This week was a hard week in Israel. In a dramatic speech on Monday evening, (after the show was taped), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recalled the story of Solomon’s Judgment of the two women claiming to be the same baby’s mother. He suggested cutting the child in two and giving each woman half. The fake mother agreed, the real mother said that the baby should be given to the other woman, to save his life. And Solomon, understanding, gave the baby to his real mother. Likewise, Netanyahu said, with the left tearing the country apart, he had decided to suspend his government’s effort to pass a law placing minimal limits on the Suprem Court, which currently operates as a self-appointed oligarchy.

In this week’s show, I discussed the left’s violent behavior going back to the founding of the state, and traced the path from Ben Gurion’s order to sink the Irgun’s weapons ship, the Altelena, killing the crew on board, and the present chaos in Israel.

My guest this week was French journalist Michel Gurfinkel. Presently, France is also in the throes of a domestic upheaval over President Macron’s plan to raise retirement age from 60 to 62. Gurfinkel explained the similarities and differences between the chaos in Israel and in France and he and I discussed the way that representative democracy is being crushed by outside institutions.
