This week on the Tribal Update, the television-on-internet satire show produced every week by Latma, the Hebrew-language media satire website I founded and edit, we feature outgoing IDF Chief of General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi’s “modest” farewell from the army.

Inspired by the demonstrators in Tunisia who shouted Khaibar, Khabair ya Yahoud etc in a demonstration “celebrating freedom outside Tunisia’s Great Synagogue, we composed an ode to Muhammad the great and merciful warrior.

We also bring you our wise reporter Flock Builder describing the Israeli revolution inspired by our neighbors.

We hope you enjoy the show, post it on your websites and distribute it to everyone you know.

Here is the full episode.

On Sunday night our whole team will come together at Beit Sokolov Journalists’ house in Tel Aviv to receive Israel Media Watch’s Abramowitz Prize for Media Criticism. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, you can register for the event at Israel Media Watch’s website www.imw.org.il.

Latma is funded through contributions to the Center for Security Policy in Washington. If you would like to support our efforts, you can contribute by clicking here. It takes you to the online contribution page to the Center for Security Policy through Network for Good. To earmark your donation to Latma, please write “Latma” in the box marked “designation.”

We just registered a non-profit organization — The Zionist Incubator — here in Israel that will be able to accept donations for Latma from outside the US. As soon as we open our bank account I will provide information about how to donate.

Thanks again for your support for Latma and its important work in developing a public discourse in Israel that is relevant to the challenges facing our country.
