From 1948-2017, while the American people supported the State of Israel, American policymakers and the foreign policy establishment treated Israel as an irritatating client state that needed to be kept dependent and in check. Then Donald Trump became President, appointed David Friedman to serve as his ambassador to Israel, and back Friedman as he took a sledgehammer to 69 years of received wisdom that Israel was the problem, not the solution to the pathological instability of the Middle East.
In Episode 48 of the Caroline Glick Middle East News Hour, Ambassador Friedman joined me to discuss the Trump administration’s assessment of Israel and how its translation into U.S. policy transformed the Middle East and transformed the U.S.-Israel relationship into a full blown alliance.
We also discussed Israel’s relations with U.S. Jewry, the dual loyalty canard that was freely used against him, and the efforts by the Biden administration and the Bennett-Lapid government to bury and hide the massive achievements of their predecessors.
It was an extraordinary discussion. Be sure to watch/listen and share it with your friends and relatives.
