On the face of things, the Russian-Ukrainian war and the Israel-Hamas war are separate and distinct wars. But as David Goldman explains on this week’s Caroline Glick Show, the two are inextricably linked through the U.S.
The U.S. began the war in Ukraine by promising that Russian President Vladimir Putin would be overthrown and the Russian economy would shrink by 50 percent. In the event, Russia’s economy is as strong as ever. Putin is wildly popular and Ukraine is running out of ammunition and soldiers and stands on the verge of catastrophe. The U.S. and NATO are heading towards the exits.
The implication of Ukraine’s looming implosion for the U.S.’s global standing is catastrophic. The other powers, from Russia to China now view the U.S. as a weak and ebbing superpower who will not be able to withstand assaults on its strategic interests.
For Israel, America’s diminished standing, along with its limited capacity to produce weapons at the rate of China, Russia and other rivals, places it in a bind.
