Doctors at the Mumbai hospital who treated the victims of the past week's jihadist attacks were rendered nearly speechless by the carnage. As two doctors explained to the Indian news Web site rediff.com, violent gang wars and previous terror attacks didn't hold a candle to what happened.

The bodies of the victims showed clear signs of preexecution torture. The worst tortured, they said, were the Jewish victims. As one doctor put it, "Of all the bodies, the Israeli victims bore the maximum torture marks. It was clear that they were killed on the [first day of the assault]. It was obvious that they were tied up and tortured before they were killed. It was so bad that I do not want to go over the details even in my head again." India's Intelligence Bureau revealed that a captured jihadist explained that they were instructed to seek out foreign and especially Israeli victims.

In the aftermath of the Mumbai massacres, it is hard to imagine that there is anything as pernicious as the jihadists who sought out and murdered non-Muslims with such cruelty. But there is. Their multicultural apologists, who enable them to continue to kill by preventing their victims from fighting back, are just as evil.

The jihadists in Mumbai, like their counterparts throughout the world, were motivated to kill by their adherence to totalitarian Islam. Totalitarian Islam calls for the annihilation of the Jewish people and the subjugation of all other non-Muslims.

The jihadists in Mumbai, like their counterparts from Gaza to Baghdad to Guantanamo Bay, have been defended, and their acts and motivations have been explained away, by their allies and loyal apologists: Western multiculturalists. Multiculturalism is a quasi-religion predicated on both moral relativism and a basic belief in the inherent avarice of the West – particularly of the US and Israel. Multiculturalists assert that Westerners – or, in the case of India, Hindus – are to blame for all acts of violence carried out against them by non-Westerners.

IN THE case of the Mumbai massacres, the jihadists' multicultural defenders began justifying their actions while they were still in the midst of their torture and murder spree. In Newsweek, Fareed Zakaria hinted that Indian Hindus had it coming.

"One of the untold stories of India," he explained, "is that the Muslim population has not shared in the boom the country has enjoyed over the last 10 years. There is still a lot of institutional discrimination, and many remain persecuted."

Then too, the multicultural media suppressed the fact that the jihadists were targeting Jews. Outside of Israel, it took the media nearly two days to report that the Chabad House had even been taken over by the jihadists. And once they did finally report that Jews were being targeted, they made every effort to downplay the strategic significance of the jihadists' decision to send a team off the beaten path simply to butcher Jews.

Emblematic of the Western media's attempts to play down the story was The New York Times. Two days into the hostage drama, the Times opined, "It is not known if the Jewish center was strategically chosen, or if it was an accidental hostage scene."

JEWS WERE not the only ones who had their identity obscured. The jihadists did too. For almost an entire day, major news networks in the West suppressed the fact that the murderers were Muslim jihadists, claiming oddly, that they could also be Hindu terrorists. This was odd not because there are no Hindu terrorists, but because the perpetrators referred to themselves from the outset as "mujahideen," or Islamic warriors.

Once the jig was up on their attempts to hide the identities of the perpetrators and their victims alike, the jihadists' multicultural enablers started blaming the victims. For instance, on Sunday, The Los Angeles Times published an op-ed by University of Chicago law professor Martha Nussbaum attacking Indian Hindus. After blithely dismissing the atrocities that were still under way while she wrote as "probably funded from outside India, in connection with the ongoing conflict over Kashmir," Nussbaum focused her ire against India's Hindus. Recalling the gruesome and apparently state-sanctioned violence against Muslims in India's Gujarat state in 2002, Nussbaum cast the jihadists as nothing more than victims of a Hindu terror state which has been victimizing Muslims for no reason since the 1930s.

Nussbaum's essay was a patent example of selective multicultural memory. She apparently forgot about the Islamic conquests of India from the seventh through the 16th centuries in which India's Buddhists were wiped out and 70 million-80 million Hindus were slaughtered by Muslim overlords. She also forgot about the thousands of Indian Hindus who have been murdered by jihadists since the 1990s.

After ignoring India's long and recent history of jihad, Nussbaum condemned an imaginary double standard which she claimed labels all Muslims as terrorists and gives Hindus a free ride in subjugating them. Of course, thanks to multiculturalists like Nussbaum, the double standard we suffer from is the exact opposite of what she described: Muslim terrorists, we are told, are victims of persecution and represent a teensy-tiny fraction of Muslims. On the other hand, all non-Muslims involved in even marginally violent activities against Muslims are murderers, fanatics, extremists. Moreover, they are representative of their non-Muslim societies.

THE ATTACKS in Mumbai and the multiculturalists' rush to minimize their significance exposed two disturbing truths about the global jihad. First, they showed that the jihadists are quick studies. With each passing day, their capacity to attack grows larger.

The attacks in Mumbai were exceedingly sophisticated in design and execution. There were echoes of previous attacks, including the al-Qaida bombing of Mike's Place café in Tel Aviv in 2003, and its execution of Northern Alliance commander Ahmed Shah Massoud on September 9, 2001. But there was also a clear implementation of the lessons learned from those and other attacks carried out by al-Qaida and other terror groups.

By making clear their ability to improve their skills by drawing on lessons from past operations, the jihadists in Mumbai were similar to their counterparts in Pakistan, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Syria and every other place where jihadists have safe operational bases. Their obvious knowledge of their enemies' weaknesses also calls to mind the sophisticated modes of operation of Islamic terrorists in the West and in Israel.

In all places where jihadist forces operate in secure bases, they are becoming more sophisticated in their tactics, training and doctrine. Their weapons are increasingly advanced.

Jihadist regimes, like their terror proxies and allies, are not only increasing their direct support for jihadist terrorists. Regimes, and particularly Iran, are matching their increased support for terror groups with their own nonconventional weapons programs. So, in the case of Iran, its takeover of Lebanon and Gaza through Hizbullah and Hamas is being made even more dangerous by its progress in its nuclear weapons program. So too, nuclear-armed Pakistan's military and ISI are expanding their support for al-Qaida and the Taliban at the same time they are facilitating jihadist attacks in Pakistan's large cities as well as in India.

This progressive improvement in the capabilities and tightened coordination between jihadist regimes and jihadist groups lends credence to the view that the probability increases with each passing day that a jihadist regime will arm jihadist groups with nuclear weapons.

THE SECOND truth about the global jihad that the Mumbai attacks exposed is that there is nothing that jihadists can do to make the multiculturalists stop defending them. And there is nothing effective that democratic governments can do to d
efend against the jihadists that multiculturalists will deem acceptable. This is the case because multiculturalists cannot accept the fact that the jihadists are waging war against the West without disavowing multiculturalism itself. And since they will not disavow what has become their religion, they will never be convinced that they must stop defending jihadists. In line with this basic fact, it is worth returning for a moment to Nussbaum.

The only advice she offered the Indian government that had just absorbed a coordinated attack, launched and planned by domestic as well as foreign operatives on sea and on land, was to treat terrorists like regular criminals. As she put it, "Let's go after criminals with determination, good evidence and fair trials, and let's stop targeting people based on their religious affiliation."

And of course, Nussbaum herself is little different in her refusal to acknowledge the fact of the global jihad than many of the governments principally targeted by jihadist regimes and terror armies. Take the incoming Obama administration for example.

Iran daily threatens to destroy the US, annihilate Israel, close the Straits of Hormuz, use nuclear weapons and proliferate nuclear weapons to other states. It controls Syria, Lebanon and Gaza. It is the primary sponsor of the insurgency in Iraq and, with Pakistan, the major sponsor of the insurgency in Afghanistan. It has cultivated strategic ties with US foes in the Western Hemisphere like Venezuela, Nicaragua and Ecuador.

Yet one of the first foreign policy initiatives promised by the incoming Obama administration is to attempt to diplomatically engage Iran with the aim of striking a grand bargain with the mullahs.

Or take Israel. The outgoing Olmert government may well lead the Western world in its attempts to deny the existence of the global jihad which has marked Israel as its central battlefield. During his visit to the White House last week, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was confronted by an incredulous US President George W. Bush who simply couldn't understand his strange enthusiasm for the prospect of giving Syria the Golan Heights. Bush couldn't fathom Olmert's fervent, if rationally unsupportable belief that if Israel gives Syria the Golan Heights, Syria will happily abandon its best friend and overlord in Teheran.

What he apparently didn't realize is that Olmert's championing of an Israeli surrender to Syria stems from his devout adherence to multiculturalism. If Syria can't be peeled away from Iran, that means that Israel can't be blamed for Syrian aggression. And that is a prospect that Olmert simply cannot abide by.

SOME COMMENTATORS dismiss the danger emanating from the global jihad by noting that its global designs are not matched by global capabilities. They argue that when the West finally decides to defeat the jihadists, they will be utterly vanquished.

Unfortunately, this view ignores two things. It ignores the fact that the jihadists are devoting all of their energies to improving and expanding their capacity to fight their war. And it ignores the fact that the multiculturalists' influence is growing steadily and has repeatedly stymied Western attempts to confront the jihadist threat head-on. Unless something changes soon, the consequences of the jihadist-multicultural alliance will be suffered by millions and millions of people.

The nations of the world learned nothing from a similar experience as a small Nazi movement got too big to stop without a major war.
Never again Israel again sits on its hands as Hamas and Hezbollah grow and grow.
Iran is the latest of failures of global proportions.
Instead of crushing these growing threats early on Israel seems to be waiting for Iran’s proxies Hamas and Hezbollah to grow until it becomes extremely costly in numbers of lives lost to put down.
When they say ‘never again’ ,they don’t really mean it.
    It’s just another catchy,empty slogan.
Today the majority of Israeli’s are fearful of offending mad ,bloodthirsty moslems and refuse to call it Islamic terrorism.
Sheikh Saleh of the mad dog of the Islamic Movement inside Israel is given a pass and hundreds of jihadists are released to make way for fellow Jews criminalized for building homes on their land.
These non moslmes of Hebron are targeted for the wrath of the Kapo State to please the perverted mulitcultural alliance known as the UN,EU,US.and their bloody bedfellow Islam.
Somehow it’s been made kosher while the Jews known as settlers are made sub-human within Israel.
Because a thouroughly corrupt Israeli leadership serves only foreign interests Hamas murderers in Gaza are safe while the Jews of Hevron are in danger.
The treacherous Kapos of state give honor and respect where it is not due. This is the same as calling evil ,good and good, evil, what we see Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak doing as he turns a bliond eye to Gaza and focuses on Hebron’s Jews who do not play the multicultural game.
The ever wise Babelites of the stupor generation want to be known as tolerant and progressive and accepting and so they embrace this evil and reject any who are intolerant of it and live by a higher law and His absolute truth.
Call it Islamic terrorism and not terrorism and you will be on a path to break free of the mad multiculturalists Babelites.
This false, feel good tolerance is a sickness which has infected those who put the creature before the Creator and His intolerance for evil. He has been replaced with compromise and tolerance for the sake of global peace and unity, and yet this goal is more elusive than it has ever been.
To them (mulitculturalists, moral realitivists) ,it’s all gray and vague ,you have no right to call Moslem’s intolerant and evil, you can’t judge or demean another religion. All are equal is the cornerstone supporting their crumbling temple built to worship man.
All are not equal ,allah and God are polar opposites.Darkness and light are not the same or equal.
And yet the religious humanists who place man above God are silent at what Islam says and does on a daily basis but never miss any illogical reason to judge and curse Israel and their proverbial scapegoat’s the Jew.
This religious humanistic hypocrisy is the face of evil and this is why they get along so well with the enemies of Israel and God.
The human species has evolved into such an advanced stupor creature incapable of learning from history and are determined to repeat it again but this time with greater unimaginable carnage.
There are no sensible leaders like Churchill to lead the west any more, only globalist elite fools who need Islam’s wealth to build their New Babel Dis-Order and so they compromise with the devil and overlook his bad habits. The insane rulers of the west are all mad and driven like moth’s to their own destruction and there is no net to catch us this time.
They are too wise (proud) to heed the warnings of those of us outside their select invitation only club and this is why they are damned.
‘For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;….
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools’, Romans 1
The fatal wound is self inflicted and pride does go before destruction as wise King Solomon wrote in Proberbs.
Hell is coming to earth for another visit, this time it will outdo all it’s other visits.
It all points to what the Jewish prophet’s foresaw and wrote about, the final battle Armageddon approaches and there is no stopping it.
The stupor generation has rejected the truth for babel and will suffer the consequences.
I do think the survivors will have learned a valuable lesson.
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Psalm 9:17

Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu also supported the security forces’ efforts to maintain order in the West Bank city9Hevron). “We must act with an iron fist against the outlaws,” he told a press conference.
But no iron fist against those in Gaza who fire mortars and kasems indiscrimanently ?
It’s the kapo Jews war on the Jews who see that there is another Authority above that of the corrupt and lawless State

The Mumbai (Bombay) massacre was clear proof that jihadists are evil murderers, and must be eliminated. Singling out Jews for extermination was demonstrated to the world last week. Islamic jihadists have ominous plans to annihilate worldwide Jewry, murder so-called infidels, and rule Earth. President-elect Obama will soon discover that Iran’s president is more interested in converting him to Islam than having substantive negotiations. Neo-liberals are endangering our freedom by living in denial about Radical Islam, and they will be without excuse when jihadists turn on them.

    Caroline, another excellent article.
The world and people like Nussbaum have to stop defending the terrorist. Let’s get off this politically correct notion. Let’s call a spade a spade. These terrorist are Islamic religious fanatics bent on and determined to wipe out Christians and Jews. This is cancer that spreads and it must be taken out. Their strongholds and nesting places have to be closed.
By the way, we all know the New York Times (or as Mark Levine best describes it as the New York Slime) is nothing but a liberal, left wing rag. I wouldn’t use it to wrap bad fish for the garbage.
Dismiss the idea of relinquishing the Golan Heights to Syria. Like the Gaza Strip this would become another stronghold for the enemy. Syria along with Hizbullah, would mobilize her military in the Golan Heights and I don’t have to tell you who would be on the short end of this move.
What Israel needs right now is a right wing hawk to take charge. Put the neighbors and jihadists on notice that they will suffer the consequence for any attack against its people. I could be wrong, but I am sure the success of Israel’s independence and the wars she fought was the result of the conservative right. Did the liberal American Jews visiting Israel infect this great Nation?
What Israel doesn’t need, is any other Government including the U.S. to map a peace plan. Any peace plan has to be one determined by Israel. If we say we are a friend of Israel we should support her unconditionally. Other nations don’t pay the price for bad peace plans, Israel does.

Hey, is there a better word than multiculturist to describe these pro-appeasement, common sense-abandoning, apologists for terror? Perhaps we need to refer to those who are working hand-in-glove with terrorists (knowingly or not) with a more accurate label of contempt. To arrive to a better name, first of all, let’s examine the reason multiculturalists think in such a skewed fashion.
I believe it stems from their lack of self respect and self esteem, insecurity, and a drop-dead fear of being part a minority that renders multiculturists totally unwilling and unable to defend anything difficult in scope that would ordinarily be cherished and considered worthy of defending by mentally-healthy people. These defense-worthy ideals & values could be, for example, their religion and heritage, and moral / ethical tenets. Precisely because multiculturalists don’t have the guts to defend, they often end up turning against, blaming, hating, and teaming up with others against those ideals – and I suppose some may even do so subconsciously. By simply selecting to advocate and endorse the “other side” in a conflict with full conviction, it nullifies the guilt feeling that would automatically be present in people with a sense of decency. And if they’ve adopted the “other side” of the conflict but with less than full conviction, well then they’ll set out marching in full force to prove to others (it’s really to prove to themselves) that their decision to endorse the “other side” is indeed right – they do this to calm the insecurity and guilt they feel within. It’s a similar mentality to those Christians who try to convert Jews due to their insecurity with their own Christian religion. Although most of these intolerants had their religion predetermined for them, deep down inside they are not 100% convinced their religion is the best, so they need to set out in full force to prove (to themselves – via conversion of others) the thesis that their religion must therefore be the best. And of course, people who don’t share their beliefs are a major threat, hence, the “anti” is born – anti Semitism, anti minority, anti this, and anti that…
Having already said more than I wanted, how about labeling those multiculturists something more descriptive like “terrorapologists,” “terrorappeaseniks, ” “terrorist transformation fantasizers,” – anyone have something catchy?

The police won’t stop organized crime, however, the police evict Jew’s from their homes. The law re quires the police must wear name tags. However, our police do not need to obey the law.

Forgive me if I missed the boat on the comments of Alan Greenfield (12/4/08).
He suggests Christians want to convert Jews to Christianity because they feel insecure in their own beliefs.
I am not sure what he is reaching out to with this. As a practicing Catholic, educated in the Catholic School system have been taught to respect those of other faiths including our Jewish brothers and sisters all of us children of God . Never once was taught to convert Jews to Christianity. We have an awful lot in common, as Catholicism shares in Jewish heritage.
In fact, Caroline had a great article “The Treat of a Jewish Army”. I totally agree that it is very important for the Israelis to embrace their Jewish values and heritage and support these teaching in the military.
There appears to be a growing threat from the secular-progressives. Israel is and always should be a religious Zionist Nation with its God given rights to exist.
With respects to the carnage committed against the Jews, trust me, every living soul who believes in God regardless of his or her faith doses not in any shape or form apologize for the deplorable acts of the Islamic jihadist that occurred in Mumbai.
We also deplore the attacks of Hamas, Hezbollah and other Islamic terrorist against Israel and her people.

    ‘anyone have something catchy?’
If Israel had leaders who stood for something,it would not matter so much what others were saying or doing.
Weak and fearful cowards are always afraid of what others think and this is Israel today.
An Israel fimly planted and unmoving would not be such an easy target.
Weak, corrupt, spinless pseudo Jews who stand for nothing and always fold under minimum pressure exacerbate the problems Israel is facing.
The path of least resistance is why the world always tightens the screws on the Jews ,they don’t resist or fight back like the moslems who are the path of greatest resistance.
Where are the strong Israeli leaders ?
Fearful, corrupt, faithless, failed leftist lap dogs and godless fools, thats all I see.
For too many years we have had only spineless cowards who without fail serve only the corrupt nations intersts and not Israels’.
Why aren’t they speaking out and doing more than just words against the U.N.’s double standard ?
They act more like kapo’s and dhimmi slave’s than they do leaders of Israel.

This is absolutely right, but one must look further into the underpinnings of multiculturalism. The answer lies in the ethics of altruism.
Altruism is not some feel good code that preaches kindness, good will and respect for others. In actuality altruism’s principals demand that man has no right to exist for his own sake, service to others is the only justification of his existence and self-sacrifice is his moral duty. As Ayn Rand stated : “Those who start by saying ’It is selfish to pursue your own wishes, you must sacrifice them to others’ – end up by saying ’It is selfish to uphold your convictions, you must sacrifice them to the convictions of others’.”
Altruism is what drives multiculturalism. Who are we to say the culture of West, i.e. reason, individualism and capitalism, are better than the tribalism and stagnation of Islamic culture? Needless to say the repudiation of objective standards demanded by multiculturalism is an unlimited license for evil.
The cure for multiculturalism is to assert that man has a right to exist for his own sake and there are objective standards that make this possible on this earth.

    That’s a broad brush stroke.
Correct me if I am wrong, I believe that the majority of Americans regardless of their religion support Israel and don’t like to see the constant attacks not only from the terrorist but also from those that cry foul when Israel retaliates.
The problem as I see it is the Israel government has become more liberal and to the left.
It’s time to take a stand to protect this nation and to quit listening to the other governments dictate terms for peace. It’s time for the neighbors to act civil and clean up their act before looking to Israel to commit to anything.

As a Jew born and raised in Mumbai I was intimately familiar with ALL the attack sites. This was an attack not just on India but Israel/Judaism too. The terrorist who murdered the Chabad martyrs insisted that Israel was the devil behind India’s involvement in Kashmir and its supposed mistreatment of the Muslims. Such vile lies are common throughout the Muslim world and will lead to repeated, increasingly sophisticated attacks on Israel and the West. But the ‘multiculturalists’ like Arundhati Roy will still be apologetic in the face of terror, all in the name of “a better understanding of the context”. We are(and always have been) in a religious war- that’s what’s missing from the multicultural nihilistic ‘understanding’. The Torah provides a sound ethical and political teaching with which to meet this existential challenge.

“THE ATTACKS in Mumbai and the multiculturalists’ rush to minimize their significance exposed two disturbing truths about the global jihad.”
One interesting thing about multiculturalists is that if you ask them if they would actually embrace and take up the culture they are defending, they would (in their frankest moments) generally refuse to do so.
So that leaves open a number of questions: What is it (in terms of multiculturalism) are multiculturalists actually defending or attacking? And if the actual core, ideological underpinnings of, for example, the Jihadi notion of Islam is ultimately indefensible for the multiculturalist, then it seems the multiculturalist defense of Jihad is not grounded in critical thinking any kind of principle but is instead primarily sentiment.
Sentiment shorn of philosophy and critical thinking characterizes anti-intellectualism. Such anti-intellectualism is the mother of the worst kinds of fanaticism.
