Obama’s war on Israel

Why has US President Barak Obama decided to foment a crisis in US relations with Israel?

Some commentators have claimed that it is Israel’s fault. As they tell it, the news that Israel has not banned Jewish construction in Jerusalem – after repeatedly refusing to ban such construction — drove Obama into a fit of uncontrolled rage from which he has yet to recover.

While popular, this claim makes no sense. Obama didn’t come to be called “No drama Obama” for nothing. It is not credible to argue that Jerusalem’s local planning board’s decision to approve the construction of 1,600 housing units in Ramat Shlomo drove cool Obama into a fit of wild rage at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Obama himself claims that he has launched a political war against Israel in the interest of promoting peace.  But this claim too, does not stand up to scrutiny.

On Friday Obama ordered Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to present Netanyahu with a four-part ultimatum.

First, Israel must cancel the approval of the housing units in Ramat Shlomo.

Second, Israel must prohibit all construction for Jews in Jerusalem neighborhoods built since 1967.

Third, Israel must make a gesture to the Palestinians to show them we want peace. The US suggests releasing hundreds of Palestinian terrorists from Israeli prisons.

Fourth, Israel must agree to negotiate all substantive issues, including the partition of Jerusalem, (including the Jewish neighborhoods constructed since 1967 that are now home to more than a half million Israelis), and the immigration of millions of hostile foreign Arabs to Israel under the rubric of the so-called “right of return,” in the course of indirect, Obama administration-mediated negotiations with the Palestinians. To date, Israel has maintained that substantive discussions can only be conducted in direct negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian officials.

If Israel does not accept all four US demands, then the Obama administration will boycott Netanyahu and his senior ministers. In the first instance, this means that if Netanyahu comes to Washington next week for the AIPAC conference, no senior administration official will meet with him.

Obama’s ultimatum makes clear that mediating peace between Israel and the Palestinians is not a goal he is interested in achieving.

Obama’s new demands follow the months of American pressure that eventually coerced Netanyahu into announcing both his support for a Palestinian state and a ten month ban on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria. No previous Israeli government had ever been asked to make the latter concession.

Netanyahu was led to believe that in return for these concessions Obama would begin behaving like the credible mediator his predecessors were. But instead of acting like his predecessors, Obama has behaved like the Palestinians. Rather than reward Netanyahu for taking a risk for peace, in the model of Yassir Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas, Obama has pocketed Netanyahu’s concessions and escalated his demands. This is not the behavior of a mediator. This is the behavior of an adversary.

With the US President treating Israel like an enemy, the Palestinians have no reason to agree to sit down and negotiate. Indeed, they have no choice but to declare war.

And so, in the wake of Obama’s onslaught on Israel’s right to Jerusalem, Palestinian incitement against Israel and Jews has risen to levels not seen since the outbreak of the last terror war in September 2000. And just as night follows day, that incitement has led to violence. This week’s Arab riots from Jerusalem to Jaffa, and the renewed rocket offensive from Gaza are directly related to Obama’s malicious attacks on Israel.

But if his campaign against Israel wasn’t driven by a presidential temper tantrum, and it isn’t aimed at promoting peace what explains it? What is Obama trying to accomplish?

There are five explanations for Obama’s behavior. And they are not mutually exclusive.

First, Obama’s assault on Israel is likely related to the failure of his Iran policy. Over the past week, senior administration officials including General David Petraeus have made viciously defamatory attacks on Israel insinuating that the construction of homes for Jews in Jerusalem is a primary cause for bad behavior on the part of Iran and its proxies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria and Gaza. By this line of thinking, if Israel simply returned to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines, Iran’s centrifuges would stop spinning, and Syria, al Qaida, the Taliban, Hizbullah, Hamas and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards would all beat their swords into plowshares.

Even more important than its usefulness as a tool to divert the public’s attention away from the failure of his Iran policy, Obama’s assault against Israel may well be aimed at maintaining that failed policy. Specifically, he may be attacking Israel in a bid to coerce Netanyahu into agreeing to give Obama veto power over any Israeli military strike against Iran’s nuclear installations. That is, the anti-Israel campaign may be a means to force Israel to stand by as Obama allows Iran to build a nuclear arsenal.

For the past several months, an endless line of senior administration officials have descended on Jerusalem with the expressed aim of convincing Netanyahu to relinquish Israel’s right to independently strike Iran’s nuclear installations. All of these officials have returned to Washington empty-handed. Perhaps Obama has decided that since quiet pressure has failed to cow Netanyahu, it is time to launch a frontal attack against him.

This brings us to the third explanation for why Obama has decided to go to war with the democratically elected Israeli government. Obama’s advisors told friendly reporters that Obama wants to bring down Netanyahu’s government. By making demands Netanyahu and his coalition partners cannot accept, Obama hopes to either bring down the government and replace Netanyahu and Likud with the far-leftist Tzipi Livni and Kadima, or force Yisrael Beitenu and Shas to bolt the coalition and compel Netanyahu to accept Livni as a co-prime minister. Livni of course, won the Obama’s heart when in 2008 she opted for new elections rather than accept Shas’s demand that she protect the unity of Jerusalem.

The fourth explanation for Obama’s behavior is that he seeks to realign US foreign policy away from Israel. Obama’s constant attempts to cultivate relations with Iran’s unelected president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Ahmadinejad’s Arab lackey Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, and Turkey’s Islamist Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan make clear that he views developing US relations with these anti-American regimes as a primary foreign policy goal.

Given that all of these leaders have demanded that in exchange for better relations Obama abandon Israel as a US ally, and in light of the professed anti-Israel positions of several of his senior foreign policy advisors, it is possible that Obama is seeking to downgrade US relations with Israel. His consistent castigation of Israel as obstructionist and defiant has led some surveys to claim that over the past year US popular support for Israel has dropped from 77 to 58 percent.

The more Obama fills newspaper headlines with allegations that Israel is responsible for everything from US combat deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan to Iran’s nuclear program, the lower those numbers can be expected to fall. And the more popular American support for Israel falls, the easier it will be for Obama to engineer an open breach with the Jewish state.

The final explanation for Obama’s behavior is that he is using his manufactured crisis to justify adopting an overtly anti-Israel position vis-à-vis the Palestinians. On Thursday The New York Times reported that administration officials are considering having Obama present his own “peace plan.” Given the administration’s denial of Israel’s right to Jerusalem, an “Obama plan,” would doubtless require Israel to withdraw to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines and expel some 700,000 Jew
s from their homes.

Likewise, the crisis Obama has manufactured with Israel could pave the way for him to recognize a Palestinian state if the Palestinians follow through on their threat to unilaterally declare statehood next year regardless of the status of negotiations with Israel. Such a US move could in turn lead to the deployment of US forces in Judea and Samaria to “protect” the unilaterally declared Palestinian state from Israel.

Both Obama’s behavior and the policy goals it indicates make it clear that Netanyahu’s current policy of trying to appease Obama by making concrete concessions is no longer justified. Obama is not interested in being won over. The question is what should Netanyahu do?

One front in the war Obama has started is at home. Netanyahu must ensure that he maintains popular domestic support for his government to scuttle Obama’s plan to overthrow his government. So far, in large part due to Obama’s unprecedented nastiness, Netanyahu’s domestic support has held steady. A poll conducted for IMRA news service this week by Maagar Mohot shows that fully 75 percent of Israeli Jews believe Obama’s behavior towards Israel is unjustified. As for Netanyahu, 71 percent of Israeli Jews believe his refusal to accept Obama’s demand to ban Jewish building in Jerusalem proves he is a strong leader. Similarly, a Shvakim Panorama poll for Israel Radio shows public support for Kadima has dropped by more than 30 percent since last year’s elections.

The other front in Obama’s war is the American public. By blaming Israel for the state of the Middle East and launching personal barbs against Netanyahu, Obama seeks to drive down popular American support for Israel. In building a strategy to counter Obama’s moves, Netanyahu has to keep two issues in mind.

First, no foreign leader can win a popularity contest against a sitting US president. Therefore, Netanyahu must continue to avoid any personal attacks on Obama. He must limit his counter-offensive to a defense of Israel’s interests and his government’s policies.

Second, Netanyahu must remember that Obama’s hostility towards Israel is not shared by the majority of Americans. Netanyahu’s goal must be to strengthen and increase the majority of Americans who support Israel. To this end, Netanyahu must go to Washington next week and speak at the annual AIPAC conference as planned despite the administration’s threat to boycott him.

While in Washington, Netanyahu should meet with every Congressman and Senator who wishes to meet with him as well as every administration member who seeks him out. Moreover, he should give interviews to as many television networks, newspapers and major radio programs as possible in order to bring his message directly to the American people.

Obama has made clear that he is not Israel’s ally. And for the remainder of his term, he will do everything he can to downgrade US relations with Israel while maintaining his constant genuflection to the likes of Iran, Syria, the Palestinians and Turkey.

But like Israel, the US is a free country. And as long as popular support for Israel holds steady, Obama’s options will be limited. Netanyahu’s task is to maintain that support in the face of administration hostility, as he implements policies towards Iran and the Arabs alike that are necessary to ensure Israel’s long-term survival and prosperity.

What is President Obama trying to accomplish? The President wants to avoid a war with Iran at all costs, including alienating Israel. His administration mistakenly believes that solving the Arab-Israeli Conflict will cause peace to breakout in the region. President Obama is trying to appear as a so-called honest broker to negotiate a settlement, and validate his Nobel Peace Prize. Prime Minister Netanyahu knows the situation, and appears to have settled into his role. The Prime Minister needs to take the high road, and know that many Americans support Israel.

Excellent article. Missing, however, is the word anti-Semitic. Obama is a Jew-hating anti-Semite, as evidenced by his 20 year association with the Reverend Wright. What more reason do we need to explain his behavior?

Carolyn, excellent analysis. But there is one item you didn’t mention, which I think is of critical importance and that is the still high level of approval that Obama enjoys with American Jews. As long as this support holds, Obama sees absolutely no down side to pummeling Netanyahu and Israel…and his recent actions clearly show that.
US-Jews and their blind and unexplainable support for this administration is, in my mind, the #1 enabler of the openly anti-Israel stand and policy of this administration.
I believe that within 2-4 weeks, there will be violence in Judea and Samaria and from Gaza and that Israel will have to retaliate. There will be a Security Council resolution condemning Israel and ordering Israel to withdraw from these areas. And I am ready to bet that the US will vote for it, or at least will abstain. Israel will then find itself in violation of a Security Council resolution which then places it in the same camp as Hussein’s Iraq and Ahmadinejad’s Iran, etc…
    Just watch.

I just don’t know why anyone is still surprised regarding Obama’s treatment of Israel. The writing has been on the wall and people have warned it is coming. Wouldn’t it be wise to stay a step ahead of him instead of reacting to him?

I have been expecting Obama to tilt US foreign policy against Israel. He has already stabbed us Armenians in the back on the genocide and has further tilted the US toward the interests of the Islamic emerging Turkey and of Azerbaijan against Armenia. He supports pro-Muslim policies against Christians and Jews everywhere. Why shouldn’t I consider Obama the stealth Muslim president?

    Carolyn,
THANK you for this analysis of the situaton. It seems clear enough and I would also agree with one of the posters above who indicated that what drives President Obama (and all those opposed to Israel) is nothing but pure animosity born of anti-Semitism.
I took the liberty of reprinting this blog on mine, with a clear link back to this page. I hope that’s all right. If not, let me know.
    Keep up the great writing!

Viewing this from the Chicago school of politics, having failed to woo anyone with his soothing speech in Cairo and awkward bow to the Saudi king, Mr. Obama’s hard press on Israel is most likely an attempt to 1) build his credibility with Muslim governments in the region and 2) undermine the political future of Mr. Netanyahu’s coalition. And, while Mr. Obama may have some luck with #2, the Muslim governments in the region aren’t going to take the bait on #1. Tehran will get their bomb, and we’re all going to have to find a way to live with it.
The recommendation that Mr. Netanyahu take his case to the American people is spot on. We all know that anti-Israeli violence started long before our current adventures in the Middle East, and while Mr. Obama and his henchmen are busy selling a story that the Arab-Israeli conflict is the problem, not many Americans are buying.

Or Obama knows that there will never be a peace agreement as long as the Likud coalition government includes right wing extremists that refuse to stop the building of settlements in the West Bank. So he drives a wedge between Bibi and Lieberman, forcing Netanyahu to form a coalition with the more moderate Tzipi Livni creating a more moderate government that will move forward on peace talks with Abbas, who is proving to be a capable Palestinian leader.
Of course, I’m not a delusional paranoid.

But like Israel, the US is a free country.
There is a only a small segment of the population who is in lunatic lock step with this domestic and foreign direction the rest who support him are in darkness and in the power grasp of the welfare state. Just like you stated Israel has their own political left side fringe. They are birds of a feather. It sounds like you are in such a state of unbelief that a US President is doing this. It’s like a total 180 from what you and others in the past have seen before. Welcome to the club. His legitimacy is being challenged. Top conservative broadcasters are now saying without a doubt that he is a Marxist and we are in real trouble. I say this because you don’t hear that coming from the conservative side with all seriousness. The leftists called Bush a Hitler but you expect them to do such atrocities. They call us a figure who is actually one of themselves and pretend to be one of us and the patriotic liberator to be elected. So for us to call him a Marxist is serious and should be listened to. He has purposely set himself with his collective to bring down the US with highly sweeping destructive federal laws to reign in any sort of freedom and crush the masses economically. You would think that that is such a far fetched claim but it’s not. Our country IS under siege. Dictators operate in that direction. Totalitarians vie for that. This is not a one man show though it’s a collective who have been most regrettably been handed the keys to the White House and the most powerful seat in the world.
God raises kings and brings them down but not without a righteous purpose or a just judgment. I look to God to fulfill His will which is good though they mean it for evil. We are to pray for Obama even if it is that he would be thwarted and that peace would be preserved. We are to be wise in His wisdom and awake and aware of what’s going on around us including in our own government. Thanks be to God America still has its freedoms and the word is spreading of what’s going on.
no senior administration official will meet with him.
Carol, you don’t want to meet with them. When I hear of congressmen or senators being called to a meeting with the POTUS its now shuddering because of who he is and who he is not.
This isn’t in the history of the USA a normal Presidency but a stealth coup and the greatest 9/11 to come upon this nation. If I were Bibi I would realize quickly what I was up against.
They are trying to ram through a far reach for power piece of legislation of which no one is allowed really to see what’s in it. We’re being told in like words that we can see it later after it’s passed and marvel at it’s greatness for the common good of all US citizens. By the way we are going to deem it passed because we don’t have the votes to pass it legally.
Our freedom is being heisted and America is still awakening.
You report their demands on Bibi and Israel and its the same basically. Stand down for Iran and all your neighbors. They will love you for it. It’s for the good of the region and for peace. Stop behaving like radicals and all is well or else.
We who believe in God and the freedom He has given us in our nation are now deemed radical trouble makers but we are what America is about. We are the Americans. There are millions of us to his thousands. That’s why they cannot wait or give up on legally or illegally passing this crushing coup legislation which is the first of many to seek to kill Uncle Sam.
The longer it is stalled the awakening warning bell sounds across the fruited plains. There is a stranger in the White House. Tell Bibi not to talk to strangers when he comes here. Tell him to come talk to his friends. There are many of us. There are conservative rallies occurring. It would be great if he came to one of the big ones. This should be arranged and of course he should be prepared to speak in a most potent way and understand he will be embraced.

Arms embargo against the only reliable US ally in the Middle East
    Friday, March 19, 2010
    Posted by John Keller
The administration of Barack Obama is orchestrating an arms embargo of sophisticated military weapons against the only reliable U.S. ally in the Middle East — Israel.
How much sense does this make at a time when nearby Iran is nearing development of deliverable nuclear weapons and is belligerent as ever? If the U.S. and Israel do not stand united against a nuclear-armed Iran, the entire geopolitical situation in South Asia could slip out of control.
In my darker moments I think this must be what the Obama Administration wants.
So what’s the problem between the U.S. and Israel? The Israelis and Palestinian Arabs don’t like each other much, and the Obama Administration wants the two sides to get along. Israel wants to build 1,600 housing units in East Jerusalem — an area that has been part of Israel for 43 years — and the Obama Administration wants the project stopped because it offends Palestinians.
The Obama Administration can’t resist intervening in an internal Israeli matter so much that the president is willing to aid and abet a nuclear-armed adversary nearby to develop into a monster international threat. This doesn’t sound to me like Obama has his international priorities straight, but I digress.
So what’s this arms embargo? Since taking office, Obama has blocked all major Israeli requests for advanced U.S. weapons, including proposed Israeli procurement of AH-64D Apache attack helicopters, refueling systems, advanced munitions and data on a stealth variant of the F-15E fighter-bomber.
According to a story that ran Thursday in the World Tribune, “All signs indicate that this will continue in 2010,” a congressional source familiar with the Israeli military requests said. “This is really an embargo, but nobody talks about it publicly.”
The latest development in Obama’s arms embargo against Israel happened Thursday. World Tribune reported the Administration ordered the U.S. military to divert a shipment of smart bunker-buster bombs from Israel to a military base in Diego Garcia. They said the shipment of 387 smart munitions had been slated to join pre-positioned U.S. military equipment in Israel Air Force bases.
The Obama Administration can posture with an arms embargo all it wants, but Israel has an interesting history of dealing with arms embargoes. After the 1967 War, the French government launched an arms embargo, which denied the French-build Mirage 5 jet fighter to Israel.
By controversial means, Israel acquired detailed plans for the Mirage 5 and build their own jet fighter based on its design. The result was the Kfir jet fighter, which is Hebrew for lion cub.
My point is that if the Israelis want bunker-busting munitions, they are perfectly capable of developing these big smart bombs on their own. Israel does amazing things when the country feels threatened; they have shown this throughout their short history.
Put a nuclear-capable country within the range of short-range ballistic missiles near their borders, and I think Israel pull another rabbit out of its hat — and the Obama Administration will have nothing to say about it.

I am first and foremost a religious Jew thus I get a certain satisfaction that at this particular season, the Passover Season, the President of the most powerful nation on earth, Barack Hussein Obama, has declared open war on God’s Chosen People, Israel. I cannot emphasize the how spiritually significant this really is, Barack Obama as Pharaoh. Just as Pharaoh saw himself as the ultimate in power, so does Obama, just as Pharoah saw Israel as slaves to his will, so does Obama, just as Pharaoh suffered from an implacable, immutable, and lifelong hatred of Israel, so does Obama. Obama even has his very own Israel hating Dathan and Abiram, Rahm Emmanuel and David Axelrod, for Heaven’s sake!
As a religious Jew, I do not accept the possiblity of coincidence, thus I cannot appreciate or see this open expression by Obama of his contempt and hatred towards us as anything more of less than the hand of God directing human action, that is, God is showing the Jewish People the true and ugly anti Semitic and Israel hating face of Barack Obama.
And I believe that just like Pharaoh, Obama will increase his unjust and unreasonable demands on Israel to show his power, to make us suffer, and eventually to force us to bow to his will.
I am concerned that our Prime Minister Netanyahu may not be up to the task of confronting and breaking the will of Obama as Moses was regarding Pharaoh, but then again one never knows, Netanyahu may be forced into becoming the strong and effective leader we need for the trying times ahead.
But analogies can only go so far and what Israel will have to do to win this confrontation will take clear and focused thinking, not frogs or lice or hail from Heaven. Our Prime Minister must use what we call his Yiddishekopf, his Jewish brains to study our rich history of effectively dealing with anti Jewish tyrants, whether Czar or King or President.
First of all, Netanyahu must do everything possible to take this battle out of Obama’s hands by appearing to be taking Obama’s ridiculous demands seriously. He must then act like he is really trying to meet the demands but draw out the process for as long as possible in order to let another more important crisis, like American unemployment or the November mid term elections, take the center stage and shove us to the side. Finally if absolutely necessary, although I doubt if things will come to that, he can offer some meaningless compromise which appears to go someway toward meeting Obama’s demands. Above all, however, even if we succeed in blunting Obama’s demands and achieving most of our legitimate needs, we have to make it appear that Obama won, but that both sides have benefitted from the affair.
Finally, there is some sort of exaggerated fear that in the absence of Palestinian Israeli peace negotiations that the Americans and the Europeans will try to impose an unacceptable settlement on us and station troops in the area to enforce that settlement. While anything is possible, I doubt that any settlement that Obama and the EU would propose, short of dismantling Israel and expelling our Jewish citizens, would be acceptable to the Palestinians. And any plan which would really endanger Israel would be rejected by even Left wing Israeli nut jobs, as well as most normal Israelis. And while Obama might want to economic or diplomatic pressure on the sides to allow him to commit more American troops to the enforcing the settlement, apart from Iraq and Afghanistan, I am sure the popular furor that would cause in the US, not to mention the American military, would be more than enough to dissuade him from such a dangerous and expensive course of action.
    Happy Passover!

There were so many striking indicators that Obama was a member of the anti-Israel hard Left that the Jewish vote in the 2008 elections will be viewed with astonishment by future historians. At present, it should be viewed for what it was – a disgrace.
This was the situation – as discussed in Commentary magazine, February, 2008: “But the Jewish flirtation with the GOP proved to be just that and nothing more. Obama ended up receiving 53 percent of the vote nationwide, but around 75 to 78 percent of the Jewish vote. Only 20 to 23 percent of Jewish voters pulled the lever for McCain, who received 46 percent of the vote overall. Obama scored a greater share of Jewish votes than John Kerry did in 2004. More striking, his performance almost equaled that of Al Gore among Jews in 2000, when Gore’s running mate was Joseph Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew.”
These October 2008 comments from Jesse Jackson, whose close association with Obama in Chicago was ignored, were among a series of bellewethers unheard by a “liberal” Jewish audience that insisted on their “Sidney Poitier moment.”
Jesse Jackson Endorses Obama’s Plan to Cut Ties With Israel to Pander to the Muslim World – 10/14/2008.
Prepare for a new America: That’s the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week.
He promised “fundamental changes” in US foreign policy – saying America must “heal wounds” it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the “arrogance of the Bush administration.”
The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where “decades of putting Israel’s interests first” would end.
Jackson believes that, although “Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades” remain strong, they’ll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.
“Obama is about change,” Jackson told me in a wide-ranging conversation. “And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it.”
And given the persistence of the Jewish embrace of Marxist rancor, Jackson and his ilk have a surfeit of Jewish supporters.
Hats off to Caroline Glick and other stalwart defenders of Israel.
Their task appears increasingly difficult, but they uphold the banner of Jewish honor.

In a stunning and historic reversal of American foreign policy, the United States is now backing one of the same horses it fought during World War II. Instead of fighting against Nazism and racism, Obama has effectively joined the jihad waged during World War II by the Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini. As discussed in Dan Senor and Saul Singer’s ‘Start up Nation’, Israel has been down this road before when the French decided to adopt the policy of having Arab interests, in lieu of Israeli friends, in 1967. And Netanyahu has been down this road before under the Bill Clinton administration, when he and his government suffered the consequences of a ‘regime modification’, so that the US could pursue its interests with Yasser Arafat and others in the region.
The US has shown itself to be utterly inept and weak in the eyes of Israel’s enemies, and is no longer in a position to strong arm Israel into accepting the US’ ‘absolute commitment to Israel’s security’ based on the principle of ‘taking risks for peace’, as in relinquishing territory which Israel’s enemies regard as yet another victory in their peace plan.
The Palestinian, Saudi, Syrian, Egyptian, Jordanian and Iranian peace plan being–as per Nazi collaborator and godfather of peace, Amin Al-Huessiini–the expulsion or extermination of all Jews in the region, and the elimination of the state of Israel.

I fear it’s all over. The Obama administration has its grand Middle East solution worked out down to streets and intersections in Jerusalem, and the number of fourth-generation “refugees” to be “repatriated” in Israel. It’s only a question of how to impose the scheme.
Plan A is, as you say, to use threats and intimidation to oust Netanyahu’s government in favor of a more congenial one — a government prepared to take the necessary “risks.” Plan B is to hammer Bibi so relentlessly as to throw him off-balance and make him pliable during the upcoming negotiations travesty with Abbas. Unfortunately, Plan B seems to be working. If it fails, however, Plan C can be activated — simply impose the solution via the Quartet and a grateful UN.
In 2007 the editor of Ha’aretz advocated “rape” of Israel to force a settlement on it. Obama would never be so boorish and crude. He offers a chivalrous choice: consent, and no one gets hurt; lose consciousness and maybe you won’t even notice; or lay back and enjoy it.

“But like Israel, the US is a free country.”
and that just might be the sixth Obumma’s objective. His secret goal in cornering Israel to attack Iran alone, with underwhelming force, which will mean more violent and more prolonged war than it would be with the overwhelming American first strike, and thus creating much more chaos in the OIL markets and international trade in general, which could lead to $200 a gallon at the pump and street riots, … his goal just might be to use all of this as a pretext for declaring, YOU GUESSED IT – the marshal law.
He won’t need a filibuster-proof majority then, would he?

For Kathy Valdez – re: the Military and Aerospace blog article – things may be mcuh worse than simply an arms embargo. There is a very real possibility that Obama is contemplating attacking Israel himself using these same bunker busters. Not only are the ones promised to Israel being diverted to Diego Garcia, but many more are being sent there from the US West Coast.
Obama is deliberately pushing Israel’s back to the wall to the point that it’s now more than a question of diplomatic disadvantage, it’s an existential threat. The biggest threat to this obvious agenda is that Israel may feel compelled to strike Iran before they’re hit first, and the best option to prevent that is for the US to preemptively take out their hardened missile sites and command & control facilities using those same bunker busters.
As much as people seem to be waking up to the “real” Obama, I believe they’re still dangerously underestimating the lengths he and his handlers are prepared to go to to remake the world. This isn’t about “friendship” or “better relations” with Israel – it’s about the fact that, to them, the mere existence of Israel is an obstacle to their vision.

Congratulations to President Obama for passing this Health Care Bill. Of course it will not be perfect, but now Americans can join the ranks of Israelis, Australians, Brittish, French, Canadians, and even Cubans! This is why the majority of American Jews voted for Mr Obama. American Jews have American interests that don’t always co-incide with Israeli interests. Mr Bush in 8 years didnt even try to fix health care. And, he still ruined the Clinton surplus and spoke like a numb-nut around the world. And it would do Israelis good to remember that there are other people outside Israel that deserve a decent life, as well as a sense of personal and financial security. I dont remember the last time Israelis took contributions at shule for American Jews with no health cover…or to buy trees in Los Angeles… YES!

    Caroline,
“On Friday Obama ordered Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to present Netanyahu with a four-part ultimatum.”
I find this quite disturbing and I would hope PM Netanyahu’s reply is “you can stuff the ultimatum up your butt”.
Israel is a sovereign Jewish Nation not a subject of the U.S. administration.
Yes Caroline, as you stated and I mentioned a number of times, the PM needs to do a super PR trip, meeting with members of the house and senate and get on every TV news outlets as possible and let the American people know the truth.
It should begin with G-d led His people back to the Holy Land, all of it and it’s capital an undivided city of Jerusalem.
With rights to build communities and housing therein.
Also Israel doesn’t need permission from any other government to defend herself from the threats of Iran or any other terrorist nation or organization.
And remember Mr.Obama, friends don’t tell friends what they can or cannot do.

Some things never change! Anti-Semitism has been a key driving force of the Islamic world for centuries and goes all the way back to the jealousy of Ishmael – the son of a slave – against his brother Isaac, the legitimate heir of the patriach Abraham.
The fact that everything Israel does is condemned and Israel is being squeezed into a tight spot by its so-called ally is proof enough that anti-semitism is more active than ever. Hitler, as bad as he was, tried to exterminate the Jews but everyoine knew he was an enemy. Obama on the otherhand says the Us and Israel have a deep bond and does a volte face the next moment. His hatred for Israel stems from the fact he is a muslim and grew up on a philosophy of anti-semitism…..in fact he hasnt even been able to produce his long form birth certificate, but he thinks he has the credentials to broker a peace deal in an age-old enemity – fat chance Mr. President?

All this posturing and scheming against Israel will not be wihout consequences and God will judge the nation of America because of the president they chose. It could be a natural disaster or an economic disaster, but America will pay a high price for belittling God’s people and working against them with people who wish to seem them destroyed.
God will have the last word – Israel will be redeemed.

Please provide the source for the details in the reported “four-part ultimatum”. The Obama administration did not boycott the PM as promised by your “reporting” therefore the ultimatums you describe are not accurate. The above comments show that your readership will believe anything you write. Please try to stick to the facts.

Now that AIPAC has installed an Obamanista as its President, we are already seeing it pull its punches with the Obama Administration.
Netanyahu has already knuckled under to one of Clinton’s demands namely letting any issue be discussed which unfortunately will allow the full drumbeat of demands to be continually sounded. I doubt that Netanyahu will add some demands of his own such as a Palestinian State giving Jewish Settlers full equality and protection under the law.
These are fantastically dark days for Israel which is facing existential threats from the Great Powers, the Arabs (including “Israeli” ones), and the Iranians with a temporizing leadership.

Many moderate Christian Americans completely support Israel against the terrorists that threaten all of Western civilization. In my lifetime (I’m 60), I’ve seen no indication whatsoever that the so-called Palestians have any interest whatsoever in taking part in honest negotiations. As they are mired in the Dark Ages, I see no reason whatsoever to even begin a semblance of negotiations – except perhaps over water and how to bury a deceased terrorist so that it will be forever forgotten. Too bad there aren’t pig farms – it would make an excellent cemetery for those monsters. Fight on.

    Hello,
Here are some observations from myself, a gentile Scottish person who supports Israel and is fully aware of Obama’s anti-semitic policies.
I think one of the standout observations Caroline made regarding the liberal appeasement of Islam via the Obama administration is how Israel is being set up as the fall guy. I will list an overview of the tactics being employed by Islam and Obama to ensure Israel is vilified over Iran’s nuclear weapons:
1- Iran and the Islamic world manifestly lies about the holocaust, saying that without it, Israel would not exist. Thus, Israel is portrayed as illegitimate only here due to the lie of the 6 million. This has the effect of rallying the Islamic world who hate Israel and need ‘facts’ to legitimize their hatred, and of course deterring the world from Iran and the Islamic world’s real goals. This holocaust denial is only a front to distract people of Iran’s true aims.
2- When the Western world condemns Iran over it’s holocaust denial they are merely acting out mundane responses to this denial i.e. “we condemns such lies etc…..”. However, the Israel hating Western governments know that by condemning Iran’s Holocaust denial, they can portray themselves as strong to their populations who are concerned over Iran and are standing up to Iran.
3- Iran is thus giving the West the excuse to look tough, by condemning Iranian bigotry over the holocaust, but this is water off a ducks back to Iran and the Islamic world. Iran is merely offering the West the chance to condemn them and thus avoid the issue of nuclear weapons. The West and Iran are both in on it.The west are buying time for Iran just like Iran is allowing the West to avoid having to confront them.
4-The negotiations over Iran’s nuclear weapons will remain exactly that – negotiations. The period of negotiating, as Caroline correctly pointed out, overruns the time frame from when Iran will develop a nuclear weapon. In laymen’s terms, Iran will get the bomb during the negotiating time frame.
5-This is where Israel will be the fall guy. Have you noticed the sudden change in attitude from Western governments recently in terms of how vocally aggressive they are towards Israel? We all know Israel is the most hated nation on earth, but the level of vitriol over Israel’s actions are merely a laying of orchestrated events to use against them later on. When Iran goes nuclear, America and the West will merely say that the negotiations failed due to Israel. They will point to the Jerusalem settlements crisis and other events yet to be orchestrated against Israel as proof of Jewish ‘evilness’.
I believe that Israel has to be aware of the level of hatred towards her. She has to stand for herself as she can’t rely on anyone. Leftards who think hugging one another and singing songs together will solve this crisis are living in a fairytale whereby they totally misunderstand the nature of the crisis.
    God bless Israel.

    Great Joke
    > Air Force One crashed in the middle of rural America . Panic stricken, the local sheriff mobilized and descended on the farm in force.
    >
    > When they got there, the disaster was clear. The aircraft was totally destroyed with only a burned hulk left smoldering in a tree line that bordered a farm. The sheriff and his men entered the smoking mess but could find no remains of anyone, including the President.
    >
    > They spotted a lone farmer plowing a field not too far away as if nothing at all happened.
    >
    > They hurried over to the man’s tractor. “Hank,” the sheriff yelled, panting and out of breath. “Did you see this terrible accident happen?”
    >
    > “Yep. Sure did.” The farmer mumbled unconcernedly, cutting off his motor.
    >
    > “Do you realize that is the airplane of the President of the United States?”
    >
    > “Yep.”
    >
    > “Were there any survivors?” “Nope.”
    >
    > They’s all kilt straight out” the farmer answered. “I done buried them all myself. Took me most of the morning..”
    >
    >
    > “President Obama is dead?” the sheriff shouted.
    >
    >
    > “Well,” the farmer grumbled, restarting his tractor.
    > “He kept a-saying he wasn’t … but you know what a liar he is.”

    Doesn’t excuse the flotilla mess.
At some point, Israel will need to defend its own actions and rhetoric. You can’t hide behind the ‘anti-semite’ wall forever, or when it’s convenient. Now it just seems like the knee-jerk response no matter the issue. A crutch, if you will.
Take responsibility and contribute to world peace, then, and only then will the nation of Israel have more of a positive international standing. At the moment, the country’s image is poor, acting like it deserves something not earned. In other words, ‘entitled’.
There is no war waged by Obama against Israel. Taking responsibility for your own country’s actions is about the extent of it. You are no worse than Michael Moore for even suggesting it.

I am an American. Barack Obama has no interest in the will of the American people. Almost every poll shows that the American people are in support of Israel by a large margin. Barack Obama has consistently ignored almost every cry from the American people for fiscal responsibility, health care, the disastrous oil spill, illegal immigration and national security. I believe that Barack Obama is psychotic and would be better suited to be an Islamic dictator.
