“Never again!”

So declared Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as he spoke at Auschwitz-Birkenau on Wednesday, the 65th anniversary of its liberation.

Netanyahu used his speech at the notorious death camp to nudge what he referred to as “the enlightened nations of the world” to recognize that “murderous evil” has to be stopped as early as possible to prevent it from achieving its aims. Unfortunately, the events of the past week show clearly that evil is on the march, and “the enlightened nations of the world” are on a coffee break from enlightenment.

As Netanyahu addressed the world from the site of the most prolific genocide factory in human history, at the place where over a million Jews were gassed, starved, beaten, raped, frozen, shot and hanged and then burned in ovens, Iran’s leaders were declaring loudly that they intend to finish what the Nazis started. They will destroy the Jewish people.

Iran’s dictator supremo Ali Khamenei used a photo-op with Mauritania’s President Mohammed Ould Abdel Aziz – who cut his own country’s diplomatic ties with Israel last January – to renew his pledge to commit yet another Holocaust. As he put it, “Surely, the day will come when the nations of the region will witness the destruction of the Zionist regime… When the destruction happens will depend on how the Islamic nations approach the issue.”

And as he spoke, the ability of “the enlightened nations of the world” to deny that the Iranian regime is building a nuclear arsenal was finally and utterly wiped away. On Monday, Germany’s Der Speigel reported that evidence gleaned from document intercepts and from the testimony of two senior Iranian defectors who were involved in the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Iran’s nuclear program is not a peaceful one. The Iranians are designing and building nuclear warheads for their Shihab-3 ballistic missiles. According to a summary of the findings now circulating through the halls of power, Teheran will have the wherewithal to build nuclear warheads by 2012.

So the Der Spiegel report showed that Iran is developing the capacity to carry out a second Holocaust in under a hundred years. And yet, in the face of their sure knowledge that evil is on the march, as they did 70 years ago, the “enlightened nations” of Europe are siding with evil against its would-be victims.

On a popular level, as Sunday’s release of the Jewish Agency’s annual report on global anti-Semitism documented, there were more anti-Semitic attacks in Europe in 2009 than there had been in any single year since the Holocaust. The report stated that the attacks were carried out by Jew-haters on both the Left and the Right.

Europe’s anti-Semites wasted no time in proving the report was accurate. On Monday, Polish Catholic Bishop Tadeusz Pieronek said that Jews have “expropriated” the Holocaust as “a propaganda weapon.” Jews, he claimed, “enjoy good press because they have powerful financial means behind them, enormous power and the unconditional backing of the United States, and this favors a certain arrogance that I find unbearable.”

Then we have the political alliance of leftist anti-Semites with Muslim anti-Semites. Together they not only attack Jews, they provide political cover for expanding those attacks by rejecting Israel’s right to exist and justifying violent attacks against Jews outside Israel as the logical outcome of their politically correct anger at Israel for refusing to destroy itself. Case in point is Ilmar Reepalu, the mayor of Malmo, Sweden.

Malmo is one of the most dangerous places for Jews in Europe. The city’s small Jewish population is fleeing. The situation in Malmo was graphically demonstrated last March when Israel’s tennis stars Amir Haddad and Andy Ram faced off against Swedish rivals at a Davis Cup tie in Malmo and Swedish authorities closed their game to the public. Malmo’s Muslim residents and their post-Christian partners on the Left threatened to attack them. Malmo’s authorities didn’t think it was their responsibility to protect their Israeli guests. So Haddad and Ram were forced to play in an empty stadium.

Interviewed in a local paper this week about the rise of anti-Semitic attacks in his city, Reepalu blamed Israel. In his view, the violence against Jews in Malmo by the far Left and Muslims, “spilled over from Gaza.”

By his lights the Jewish national liberation movement is just as bad as the Jewish annihilation movement. As he put it, “We accept neither Zionism nor anti-Semitism. They are extremes that place themselves above other groups they think are less important.”

Reepalu then blamed Malmo’s Jews for their victimization by his fellow leftists and his Muslim comrades. As far as he is concerned, the Jews brought the violence on themselves last March when they responded to Haddad and Ram’s treatment by holding a demonstration supporting Israel. In his view, Malmo’s Jews need to separate themselves away from Israel, not support it.

Since the Holocaust, old-style right-wing anti-Semites in Europe have had a hard time getting political traction for their desire to see Jews suffer. But by conflating Jews with Israel, their colleagues on the Left have made sticking it to the Jews, our state and our supporters the easiest way to score political points. So it was that in her first speech as the EU’s new foreign policy chief, Britain’s Catherine Ashton went out of her way to condemn Israel for building in Jerusalem, closing its border with Hamas-controlled Gaza and defending itself from Palestinian terrorists in Judea and Samaria.

AS FOR Israel’s friends, they are hounded, driven out of Europe and where possible placed on trial. Dutch MP Geert Wilders, the head of the Netherland’s Freedom Party, is one of Israel’s greatest supporters in Europe. Today Wilders is on trial for publicly criticizing what he views as the endemic anti-Semitism of the Koran.

Against the backdrop of the persistence of right-wing Jew hatred, and the politically ascendant Red-Green alliance of anti-Semites, it makes sense that Europe will not raise a finger to prevent another Holocaust.

And so, not surprisingly, in the wake of the Der Spiegel report, the EU’s foreign ministers got together and decided not to support any new sanctions against Iran – unless they are passed by the UN Security Council. Since Europe’s foreign ministers all know full well the Security Council will not pass sanctions against Iran because China has announced that it will veto any sanctions against Iran, this week the EU’s foreign ministers got together and essentially said they’re okay with another Holocaust.

With Europe out, and with “enlightened” Asian, African and South American countries never really in the game, the only “enlightened” country that might be expected to stop murderous evil before it can carry out its aims is the United States. But unfortunately, like the Europeans, the Americans don’t feel like being responsible. President Barack Obama, his administration and many of his fellow Democrats would rather take on Israel.

This week 54 Democratic members of Congress wrote Obama a letter asking him to apply pressure on Israel to remove its restrictions on the import of goods – including dual use goods like construction materials – to Hamas-controlled Gaza. Never mind that under US law it is legally problematic to provide any aid, (including the $300 million Obama has pledged) to Gaza in light of the fact that it is controlled
by a terrorist organization.

For its part, the administration apparently believes that there is no reason to seek the overthrow of Hamas simply because the US is required by US law and binding UN Security Council resolutions to do so. The US Treasury Department has reportedly just removed all but one Hamas official from its list of known terrorists and so paved the way for Hamas to receive funding from Europe.

As for Israel, during his trip here this week, Obama’s Middle East envoy George Mitchell came up with a revolutionary new idea. In the face of Palestinian intransigence, Mitchell introduced the earthshaking concept of pressuring Israel to make concessions to the Palestinians.

This week Mitchell asked Israel to stop all of its counterterror operations in Judea and Samaria, and allow Palestinian forces to operate not only in the Palestinian areas, but in predominantly Israeli areas as well. Specifically, Mitchell asked Israel to allow Palestinian forces to deploy in what the arguably defunct Oslo agreements refer to as Area C, where the Palestinian Authority has no security authority whatsoever.

When it comes to Iran, the Obama administration behaves as though the jury is still out on whether the mullahs are even seeking nuclear weapons. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said last Thursday that Iran might face some tough statements from the world if it continues to refuse to be appeased by the Obama White House, although she couldn’t say whether any actual steps would be taken to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, which she wouldn’t acknowledge the mullahs are developing.

And in his State of the Union address on Wednesday, Obama himself made clear that the US will do nothing to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. As far as Obama is concerned, the nuclear arsenal in most urgent need of evisceration is the US’s nuclear arsenal.

ALL OF this just goes to show that at the end of the day, now when the chips are down, there is only one “enlightened” nation in the world that may actually do something to prevent the advance of murderous evil. And Israel unfortunately is of two minds on the issue.

On the one hand, we have Netanyahu, who is clearly focused on preventing another Holocaust of Jewry. But on the other hand, we have Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who on Tuesday claimed that the absence of peace with the Palestinians – not Iran – is the greatest threat that Israel faces today. As he put it, “The lack of defined boundaries within Israel, and not an Iranian bomb, is the greatest threat to our future.”

Barak’s outrageous pronouncement is a succinct encapsulation of the great aspiration of the Israeli Left. If he could only be right, then Israel would be able to singlehandedly solve all the problems of the region and be immediately adored by the likes of the EU and the Obama administration just by making itself smaller.

So with the scourge of moral and strategic blindness rampant not only in Europe and America, but within his own government, Netanyahu rapidly approaches his moment of truth.

In what will undoubtedly be the most fateful decision of his life, he will have to decide whether Iran will become a nuclear power, or whether Israel, standing alone, will prevent it from becoming a nuclear power.

Was his declaration of “Never Again,” at Auschwitz just the bloviating of yet another “enlightened” leader who lacks the courage of his convictions? Or was it a solemn vow that Zionism’s promise will be kept?

Enlightened? The enlightment was, in part, an effort, to detach morality from religion. These people you refer to are Post-Enlightenment. They are beyond morals and can not distinguish between right and wrong, good and evil. They are so guilt ridden (or will be so disturbed by the results) that they can not tell good from bad, victim from aggressor. They are the transnational, multi culturalists (including many Israelis – see description in YNET of David Grossman and his recent protests). “Good” is what ever the UN or security counsel democratically votes. The fact that many of the countries represented, if not most, are not themselves democratic and do not ensure basic rights for their citizens, does not prevent them from determing right and wrong.

Zionism’s promise to ensure a Jewish homeland is inviolable. The so-called enlightened nations are fearful of attacking Iran’s nuclear sites because of unknown repercussions. The cost of inaction will cause the West to pay heavily when the time comes to finally confront Iran. Iran’s acquisition of an atomic bomb is a “red-line” that cannot be crossed at Israel’s expense. Prime Minister Netanyahu grasps the gravity of a nuclear-armed Iran. And Israel has paid the price through many wars to maintain its way of life, and it will prevail against Iran.

Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.Isaiah 40
The good thing about all this is that the wall of lies and delusion has been removed from the minds of everyone but Ehud Barak and Shimon Peres. How many years did I hear and read from the dreamers that the great democracy would save Israel just as they rescued Iraq from Saddam.
The truth is out that there are no enlightened nations only amoral, devolving ones, regressing back to the rubble from which they came.
The battle lines are drawn and the doomed fools of the world along with Malmo’s mayor and Obama nation take sides against God and His people Israel.
In the end all will come to realize that the holy one of Israel was always in complete control , to be feared and Israel is His handiwork.
The odds look bad for Israel unless you know who is on Israel’s side.

Netanyahu has undercut himself by going along with a settlement freeze and allowing the IDF to be used briefly as the instrument of its implementation. Now it seems he is finally insisting that some settlements are permanent and that the IDF is necessary to protect Jews. I hope he has finally come to the conclusion that finessing political issues is not going to reduce hostile pressure from the USA, Russia, Europe, and the Muslim world against Israel and that Israel’s security lies, as it always has, only with Israel herself.

Geert Wilders is not a Fascist nor even particularly bigoted. He is a conservative and specifically rejects positions real Fascists take. He wants immigration to be temporarily suspended and new immigrants to use Dutch in public assemblies and participate in the tolerant Dutch society without trying to subvert it into an Islamic state. He wishes extremist Muslim visitors to be expelled and not allowed to come into the country but would allow any legal Muslim resident to have free speech even if extreme. He simply wishes the Netherlands to retain its Christian and Jewish values.

Not particularly bigoted? He called the Koran a fascist book that should be banned. He said that Muslims should tear out half of the Koran if they wished to stay in the Netherlands. How would you feel about some demagogue with political ambitions in your country saying that about the Bible or the Torah? It’s too bad some people are so blinded by their prejudices they can only see discrimination when it’s against the group they belong to. Condemning an entire religion for the actions of a few extremists is the very definition of being a bigot. You don’t need a university education to know that discrimination against any group is wrong, just morals.

    Caroline,
What is an “old style right-wing”? I hope your not referring to NAZI’s because that’s a straw man raised up by the left wingers to burn. Despite the propaganda the National Socialist’s party was total leftist in governing. They used Christian symbols as props, usurped the liberal churches and made them propaganda machines. Not all bowed to the Fuhrer though but some resisted to their deaths. Did not President Obama use the same tactic of using props. Being Muslim he said he converted to Christianity but attended a church that preach black liberation theology. In his campaign he made statements that denoted that he was still Muslim and other statements that he was not a Christian at all. Your reference to “right wingers” tied to a Roman Catholic is misplaced because again you cling to the old straw man. You can disguise yourself with religion but it doesn’t mean authenticity.
What does being a Jew mean? Does it mean your a Zionist automatically? From what you wrote I think not. You see within Israel’s own borders what we can call a “mixed crowd” despite the nationality or religion.
Absent from your piece is the Jews themselves that you would think would be united but surprise they vote for leftists. Does Jew then become in name only? JINO should we say? They denounce the very ones supporting the nation of Israel.
Over 60% of American Jews gave President Obama their vote.
Unless you see the spiritual struggle within this present evil age it just becomes banter. Left wing this, right wing that finger pointing without seeing the big picture consistently.
“the Americans don’t feel like being responsible” is an irresponsible line and is uncalled for. You pasted the millions of us who support Israel. You fail to connect the dots of who the Obamanation really are and that it includes leftist Jews, Islamofacists, union thugs, sexual deviates, environmental whackos, femme-nazi’s, Marxist dictators abroad, mixed nut radicals abroad and within and just plain stupid, willing ignorant people.

Mr. Netanyahu is between a rock and a hard place as the American Democratic party engages in its crass betrayal of Israel; but while criticism of him is not inappropriate, no one should doubt his essential loyalty and motivations. Ehud Barak, unfortunately, reflects the schism in Israeli society, and as well the larger world; between the perversely shallow (and notoriously corrupt) left-wing world view, its issues of appeasement versus common sense, and bottom line survival in the face of dedicated and implacable enemies. Someone like Mr. Barak, above all, should know better. I hope Mr Netanyahu reads this blog, and would like to seriously suggest that he appoint Caroline to represent Israel in all dealings with George Mitchell.
“Daniel”, your indignation and hypocrisy is pathetic. The Torah reflects, essentially, as a record of ancient Judaic history, roots and ethos, with no specifically dogmatic injunctions dictating international and/or modern cross-cultural imperial ambitions, beyond the integrity of the state of Israel. Your deliberate misrepresentation of Geert Wilders, and as well the substance of this related controversy, ignores the myriad of international problems which surround the relationship of the modern world with the culture of islam; shariah, its (somewhat) unique brand of totalitianism, its intimate 20th century relationship with the nazi agenda, violent jihad, and historical record.

This outright hatred for Jews is unbelievable, it not only doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t add up and it’s outrages.
Bishop Tadeusz Pieronek should resign from the church after that statement. Sure Jews and Israel enjoy good press. What the hell planet does he live on? He must reside in a closet in some monastery with earplugs and a blindfold. As a Catholic I am ashamed.
The Iranian nuclear ambition needs to be stopped sooner than later.
I believe Israel has the capability of destroying or at least dealing them a devastating blow, enough to put them back a few more years.
It would be nice to have the U.S. support however; Obama is a wimp in addition to being anti-Semitic and anti-Israel.
Liberal American Jews have a blind eye to the anti-Semitic treatment of Jews throughout the world and the lousy treatment of Israel from their own government.

Try a little experiment in empathy if you have the courage: Take Wilder’s inflammatory statements calculated to draw media attention and ultra-nationalist support, and substitute “Jew” every time you see “Muslim” and “Torah” for “Koran”. Exchange his complaints about halal food and burkas in the Netherlands for kosher food and the dress code of the Hasidim. Glick would be running 5 columns a week calling Wilders a rising Hitler and the Mossad would be drawing up plans for his assassination.

His pleas to protect human dignity and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness seem to have fallen on deaf ears!
Bibi Netanyahu has made one last attempt to arouse the sleeping nations of the threat of a nuclear Iran. Once again, the world would prefer to placate evil in hopes of avoiding conflict than stand for the state of Israel and her people. Many Christians in America remain staunch supporters of Israel and the right to her God-given land throughout perpetuity. And there is worse, because the US has just placed a protective cordon of missiles around Iran to protect the nuclear facilities from israeli attack. Obama, it seems is fully adherent to Muslim demand that Israel be wiped out, at whatever cost to the world.
On the other hand, all of the US defensive airpower was unable to detect the insertion of IDF jets into eastern Syria a scant 2 years ago and Iraq via the Saudi airspace in 1981. Nor did the sixth fleet detect the jets coming and going 4000 KM to Tunis in 1985.
The major effect of this cordon will be to shorten the time over target for those jets which will necessitate a single run of tactical Nukes at each location rather than three of conventional weapons. As the Nuclear sites blow up it will be hard to detect whose Nukes those are.

    Dear Daniel
The fact that the Qur’an is the holy book of the Muslims does not make it immune to criticism, just like the Bible is open to criticism, and in fact, re-interpretation. For example “eye for an eye” was immediately interpreted as “in funds” that is, reparations rather than reciprocal eye-gouging. Geert is not about tearing the actual 1300 years old Qur’an up, but about bringing the behaviour of the adherents up-to-date by placing them in modern context, as have Christianity and Judaism. Reality is that Islam has not done that, and in fact has regressed further into the middle-ages, so that its anti-kufur and anti-semitic content is revered, and acted upon. Al-Kaida and Hamas routinely refer to Qur’an as justidfication for the most despicable acts, such as beheading, and wanton killings, and taking revenge for bod-mouthing Muhamad. This is where Geert draws the line.

    Daniel,
The reason that there is such a deep hatred in Islam for Israel is that it’s existence proves that Islam is a lie.
How could it be that ‘infidels’ are in control of land once under Dar al Islami if allah is God ?
This troubles the rabid dogs greatly and is why Iran’s devout Muslim Amadinejad and so many other large groups of Muslims seek Israel’s
    extermination.
The end of Islam has arrived because what they desire for Israel will fall on their own heads.
While Shia Muslim vs. Sunni Muslim atrocities across the Arab world are endemic, blowing themselves up in each others Mosques and markets you spend your time trying to convince us there is something ‘honorable about this evil cult which worships death.

The false prophet mohammed has enslaved countless millions to lies and brutal violence in the name of God,and this will end soon.

You have passed Crazy and are walking in darkness.
Your immoral attempt and miserably fail to equate Islam with Judaism and Christianity.
Your twisted desire to drag both Jews and Christian’s down to the lower level of hell where Islam resides is abominable, devious and wicked.
If your not a Muslim ,your parents need to sue for a refund from the school that poisoned your mind.
You ignore the very real threat Islam is to Israel and free people everywhere and defend evil Islam as something normal and not the curse it is on the earth.
The sooner the God of Israel removes it the better for all mankind.
Very soon everyone will know that the God of Israel He is God alone and allah was an imposter.

The bomber detonated her explosive vest in the middle of a procession of pilgrims in Boob al-Sham, in a predominantly Shiite area of the Iraqi capital, according to an Interior Ministry official.
The attack took place amid tight security as thousands of Shiite worshipers are making their way to the holy city of Karbala, south of Baghdad, to mark the Arbaeen — the end of the 40-day mourning period at the close of Ashura.’

Daniel, I suppose Geert Wilders would keep Quranic portions that call Jews and Christians people of the book and discard portions that call for war against infidels, discrimination against non-Muslims as dhimmis, castigation of Jews and Christians as being sinners. It’s really a wonder that Wilder would keep half the Quran. I wouldn’t expect Muslims to throw out any portion of their Quran any more than Jews would dump Torah because the New Testament and Islam (which considers Torah to be a falsification of the original revelation) consider it to be something old that has passed away. Then again many Jews do dump Torah anyway – you just can’t win for losing.

One should not overstretch the meaning of words. But Netanyahu is definitely being confronted with a truly historic decision and responsibility. It is no less than making a choice between the survival and the destruction of the Jews in Israel. Hitler’s clonesin Iran should be taken as seriously as Hitler should have been taken seriously, when he predicted everything in his book Mein Kampf. The decision to attack Iran, while being surrounded by a bunch of Western hypocrites ( the politicians who are unwilling to call their countrymen to help do the dirty work but nevertheless hope to benefit from its results) is an almost inhumane burden to a politician who DOES know that it’s High Noon for his country. After Hitler’s holocaust a great number of people asked why the Jews ” allowed” this to happen. This question must ” never again” be asked.

    Ron Grandinetti:
You are right, it doesn’t make any sense unless you put things in a Biblical perspective. Why are the Jews so persecuted?
There is only one clear answer, Satan is trying to foil G-d’s plan. He has unsuccessfully tried to wipe out the Jewish people for thousands of years because G-d has an everlasting covenant with them and he wants it to be broken. He promised that the Messiah would be Jewish and a descendant of King David. He promised that He would be born of a virgin in Bethlehem, and that would be pierced for our transgressions but that none of His bones would be broken. By the way, Yeshua fulfilled every prophecy given in the Old Testament about the Messiah (of which there are 108).
It is obvious that G-d cares deeply about His chosen people, otherwise they would have been wiped out long ago. I am a Gentile believer in Yeshua who loves the Jewish people and prays for their salvation because my Savior is Jewish and commands us to love one another. Unfortunately, history is overrun with people who have come in the name of Christianity to persecute Jews. TonyUSA makes a good case for why we need to see these people for who they really are.
G-d’s plan for Israel is it’s redemption collectively as a nation. Your enemies don’t stand a chance. Shalom.

“Geert Wilders is a blatant unapologetic bigot and racist. Anyone who supports him has outed themselves as a bigot and racist too. How would you feel if someone demanded you rip out half the Torah to live in their country?”
I do therefore reply to this nonsense writing:
If “half of their thorah” commands them to destroy the country who harbor them,Wilder’s reaction seems quite healthy to me !
By the way,Gemara teaches us”:the law of the country you live in is YOUR law !

    Kara you have a point.
The devil is very busy and unfortunately he has quite a bit of help from the anti-Semitics of the world.
If you come across an anti-Semitic let him or her know they are doing the devils bidding.
By the way in the end the devil doesn’t provide any benefits for his helpers they enjoy the misery of hell along with the other bad characters.
    Shalom
