These words are being written before the dust has had a chance to settle on Monday night’s naval commando raid of the Gaza-bound Turkish flotilla of terror supporters. The raid’s full range of operational failures still cannot be known. Obviously the fact that the mission ended with at least six soldiers wounded and at least ten Hamas supporters dead makes clear that there were significant failures in both the IDF’s training for and execution of the mission.

The Navy and other relevant bodies will no doubt study these failures. But they point to a larger strategic failure that has crippled Israel’s capacity to contend with the information war being waged against it. Until this failure is remedied, no after-action investigation, no enhanced training, no new electronic warfare doodad will make a significant impact on Israel’s ability to contend with the next Hamas flotilla that sets sail for Gaza.

In the space of four days, Israel has suffered two massive defeats. A straight line runs between the anti-Israel resolution passed last Friday at the UN’s Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference and the Hamas flotilla. And in both cases, Israeli officials voiced “surprise,” at these defeats.

Given the months-long build-up to the NPT review conference, and the weeks-long build-up to the Turkish-Hamas flotilla, that surprise cannot be attributed to a lack of information. What it points to rather is a cognitive failure of Israel’s leaders – from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu down – to understand the nature of the war being waged against us. And it is this fundamental failure of cognition that has landed six soldiers in the hospital, Israel’s international reputation in tatters and Israeli spokesmen – from Netanyahu down – searching for a way to describe a reality they do not understand and explain how they will cope with challenges that confound them.

The reality is simple and stark. Israel is the target of a massive information war that is unprecedented in scale and scope. This war is being waged primarily by a massive consortium of the international Left and the Arab and Islamic worlds. The staggering scale of the forces aligned against Israel is demonstrated by two things.

The Hamas abetting Free Gaza website published a list of some 222 organizations that endorsed the terror-supporting flotilla. The listed organizations hail from the four corners of the earth. They include Jewish anti-Israel groups as well as Christian, Islamic and non-religious anti-Israel groups. It is hard to think of any cause other than Israel-bashing that could unite such disparate forces.

The second indicator of the scope of the war against Israel is far more devastating than the list of groups that endorsed the pro-Hamas flotilla. That indicator is the fact that at the UN on Friday, 189 governments of 189 countries came together as one to savage Israel. There is no other issue that commands such unanimity. The NPT review conference demonstrated that the only way the international community will agree on anything is if its members are agreeing that Israel has no right to defend itself. The NPT review conference’s campaign against Israel shows that the 222 organizations supporting Hamas are a reflection of the will of the majority – not a minority – of the nations of the world.

This war against Israel is nothing new. It has been going on since the dawn of modern Zionism 150 years ago. In many ways, it is just the current iteration of the eternal war against the Jewish people.

The Red-Green alliance’s aims are twofold. It seeks to delegitimize Israel’s right to exist and it seeks to make it impossible for Israel to defend itself. If these aims are met, Israel’s destruction will become an historic inevitability.

Until US President Barack Obama took office, Israel’s one steady asset in this war was the US. Until last year, the US consistently refused to join the Red-Green alliance because its leaders recognized that the alliance’s campaign against Israel was part and parcel of the Red-Green campaign against US superpower status in the Middle East and throughout the world. Indeed, some US leaders recognized that the Red-Green alliance’s animus towards Israel stemmed from the same source as its rejection of American exceptionalism.

Dismally, what the US’s vote in favor of the NPT review conference’s final anti-Israel and by default pro-Iranian resolution makes clear is that under President Barack Obama, the US is no longer Israel’s reliable ally. Indeed, what the US’s vote shows is that the Obama administration’s ideological preferences place it on the side of the Red-Green alliance against Israel. No amount of backpedalling by the Obama administration can make up the damage caused by its act of belligerence against Israel at the NPT review conference.

If Israel’s leaders were better informed, in the lead-up to the NPT conference they would have recognized a number of things. They would have realized that Obama’s anti-nuclear conference in April, his commitment to a nuclear-free world, as well as his general ambivalence – at best – to US global leadership rendered it all but inevitable that he would turn on Israel at the NPT review conference. The truth is that Egypt’s call for the denuclearization of Israel jibes with Obama’s own repeatedly held views both regarding Israel and regarding the US’s own nuclear arsenal.

Armed with this basic understanding of Obama’s inclinations, Israel should have taken for granted that the NPT conference would target Israel. Consequently, in months preceding the conference, Israel should have stated loudly and consistently that as currently constituted the NPT serves as the chief enabler of nuclear proliferation rather than the central instrument for preventing nuclear proliferation it was supposed to be. North Korea exploited its status as an NPT signatory to develop its nuclear arsenal. Today Iran exploits its status as an NPT signatory to develop nuclear weapons. Unless the NPT is fundamentally revised it will continue to serve as the primary instrument for nuclear proliferation.

Had this been Israel’s position, it would have been able to undercut US arguments in favor of signing onto the anti-Israel final resolution. So too, such a position would have prepared Israel to cogently explain its rejection of the final resolution without sounding hypocritical.

And that is the thing of it. The Red-Green alliance’s aim at the NPT conference was to discredit Israel’s deterrent capacity while delegitimizing its right to take preemptive action against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Now, due to Israel’s failure to make its case against the NPT in the months leading up to the conference, as Israel’s enemies use the US-supported final resolution to claim that Israel’s opposition to Iran’s nuclear weapons program is hypocritical, Israel lacks a cognitive framework for responding.

The fact that Israel still doesn’t get the point is made clear by the government’s response to the decision. Israel’s denunciation of the resolution makes no mention of the fact that the NPT regime itself has become the chief institutional enabler of nuclear proliferation today. So too, disastrously, in a clear bid to pretend away Obama’s treachery, Israel actually applauded Obama for emptily criticizing the resolution he voted for. This Israeli response compounds the damage and ensures that the assault will continue and grow stronger.

As to the flotilla, the challenge it presented Israel was nothing new. Israel has been confronted by suicide protestors for a decade now. The fact that these pro-Hamas activists intended to commit suicide in order to discredit Israel on camera was made clear by the fact that the Turkish organizers named the lead ship Rachel Corrie – after the most famous pro-Hamas suicide protestor.

So too, the fact that Israeli forces boarding the ships would be met by trenchant, violent opposition was knowable simply by looking at Turkey’s role in the operation. First of all, the Turkish government-supported NGO behind the operation is IHH. As the US government, the Turkish government in the 1990s, the Investigative Project on Terrorism and countless other sources have proven, the IHH is a terrorist organization. It has direct links to al Qaida and Hamas. Its members have been involved in terrorist warfare from Chechnya and Bosnia to Iraq and Israel. The notion that IHH organizers would behave like radical leftist anti-Israel demonstrators on university campuses is simply ridiculous.

Moreover, there is Turkey’s behavior to consider. Since Obama took office, Turkey’s gradual slide into the Iranian axis has sped up considerably. Turkey’s leading role in the flotilla, and the Erdogan government’s ostentatious embrace of IHH which just a decade ago Turkey banned from earthquake relief efforts in light of its violent, jihadist mission made clear that the Erdogan regime would use the violence on board the ships as a way to strike a strategic blow at Israel’s international standing.

In view of all of this, it is clear that Israel’s information strategy for contending with the flotilla was ill-conceived. Rather than attack Turkey for its facilitation of terrorism, and openly prepare charge sheets against the flotilla’s organizers, crew and passengers for their facilitation of terrorism in breach of both Israeli domestic law and international law, Israel’s information efforts were largely concentrated on irrelevancies. Israeli officials detailed all the humanitarian assistance Israel has provided Hamas-controlled Gaza. They spoke of the Navy’s commitment to use non-lethal force to take over the ships.

And now, in the aftermath of the lethal takeover of the flotilla, Israel’s leaders stammer. Rather than demand an apology from the Turkish government for its support for these terrorists, Defense Minister Ehud Barak called his Turkish counterpart to talk over what happened. Rather than demand restitution for the terrorist assault against Israeli troops, Israel has defended its troops’ moral training in non-violent crowd control.

These efforts are worse than worthless. They make Israel appear whiny rather than indignant. And more depressingly, they expose a dangerous lack of basic comprehension about what has just occurred and a concomitant inability to prepare for what will most certainly follow.
Israel is the target of a massive information war. For Israel to win this war it needs to counter its enemies’ lies with the truth.

The NPT has been subverted by the very forces it was created to prevent from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Hamas is a genocidal terrorist organization ideologically indistinguishable from al Qaida. International law requires all states and non-state actors to take active measures to defeat it.

Israel is the frontline of the free world. Its ability to defend itself and deter its foes is the single most important guarantee of international peace and security in the world. A strong Israel is also the most potent and reliable guarantor of the US’s continued ability to project its power in the Middle East.

This is the unvarnished truth. It is also the beginning of a successful Israel campaign to defang and neutralize the massive coalition of nuclear proliferation- and terrorism- abettors aligned against it. But until our leaders finally recognize the nature of the war being waged against our country, these basic facts will remain ignored as Israel moves from one stunning defeat to the next.

    Nothing to worry about !
I does look like a disaster for Israel but it is all according to *plan.
Those who hate Israel have reached a burning critical mass of unquenchable hate.
The flakes and sometimes supporters of Israel will now run away.
The aeparation and divide against Israel is complete as there is no middle ground left.
Israel’s God is firmly in charge and He is setting up the nations for His Jehoshaphat trap.
The PR will never go ‘right’ for Israel because Israel’s God is setting a trap not a love Israel fest…. and nothing will stop this pre-determined appointment in the Jezreel Valley.
*I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for [their treatment of] My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and [because] they have divided My land.

Most King James bible readers understand that the whole world is going to come against you. So what is my advise? Obama is a side show, don’t be to concerned about him in secret. The big thing is, how can you get GOD to glorify His name, which is why you are chosen.

Caroline you are spot on about what Israel should have done before the NPT vote. I would add that it was the result of Bibi the Dhimmi putting dependance on America before Israeli national interests and that the Americans lied to Israel and stabbed Israel in the back when they assured us that there would be no singling out of Israel for condemnation. Bibi the Dhimmi still is operating under the delusion that America can be persuaded to substantively confront the Iranian menace.
You are also spot on regarding Turkey’s role in this. I would add that there was also a lack of intelligence about what the IHH would do. I hope Mossad has some informants inside that organisation. I think the Turks should be admired for their competance in mobilising a huge mob so quickly outside the Israeli consulate. It shows they had it planned well in advance of the Israeli assault and executed it flawlessly. I note the IHH beatings are executing the same strategy that Fatah is employing on the west bank – luring Israeli individuals to where a mob can beat the crap out of them.
The quick condemnations of Greece and Denmark are instructive as well as the quick demand for Israeli ambassadors to explain themselves. I’m sure this was planned in advance also or maybe it was just a knee-jerk reaction.
All in all the flotilla suceeded in its objective. I’m sure the Israelis hoped they would have made the leftists look stupid but instead there are a few more martyrs to name Palestinian streets after, plenty of great propaganda (the shots of Israeli soldiers getting beaten will no doubt be overlooked or shown as a reasonable response to Israeli agression), and lots and lots of abuse of Israeli diplomatic personnel (at least they get paid to be spat on).

Israel and Jews are losing the media war, and with biased words and images they shape the minds of those who don’t have the energy or interest to find out the facts. Not to mention those just waiting to have their existing views fueled.

Someone needs to read your message out loud to Israel’s feckless Prime Minister and incompetent Defense Minister. Watching the videos of what those IDF soldiers had to endure on that flotilla is sickening. A weak, whining defense – as pitifully exemplified by Netanyahu and Barak – has never been a good strategy. They need to stand up and start speaking as proud defenders of the Jewish State.

The information war waged against Israel is a prelude to a regional war that will start soon. Israel lost the so-called PR war, but has truth on its side. The truth is: Islamists want to destroy Israel, takeover the Middle East, replace Western Civilization with a global caliphate. For now, Leftist allies of Islamists are merely tolerated until they are eventually forced to convert to Islam or die. In spite of a so-called losing streak, Israel’s destruction will not become an historic inevitability. The defeat of Israel’s enemies is inevitable.

    Caroline,
I have not viewed the YOUTUBE item [because of a technical issue, i am unable to view YOUTUBE items these days].
I send my commiserations to the families of the injured IDF soldiers involved in the policing action taken against the Turkish-Hamas flotilla.
And i hope that all of the injured soldiers make a full recovery.
Israel, sadly, you are alone [among the nations].
    Please ask yourself!
    Why, why, why???
Israel, when will you stand up?
Will you always bend the knee, to the wicked, for ‘peace’?
Is your life to be exchanged, will you sell yourself, for worthless pottage [as your brother once did]?
Israel has a right to defend itself.
When will we see the current Israeli government begin to act, expressing that right – within Israel proper?
When will the current Israeli government begin to expel Israel’s enemies, 5th columnists, and ISLAMIST, seditionist ‘Israeli arabs’, from eretz Israel?
    ‘Palestinians’ have a ‘Palestinian’ state.
    It is called Jordan.

Israel has nothing to apologize for. Turkey on the other hand should be held accountable for the flotilla of radicals & terrorists. Obama better point the blame squarely on Turkey and other Muslim states or he will be held accountable by pro-Israel groups here in the USA. Today is Veteran’s Day in the USA where we celebrate the men & women who sacrificed for our freedom. What I saw in the images of Israeli soldiers being attacked while boarding the ship was Israel doing what it must do to protect her freedom.

Well said Ms Glick and exactly correct.
That virtually all 189 members of the UN deny Israel’s right to defend itself is the final wake-up call for Israel.
That its now the world against Israel (that will change) is less important than that Israel’s policy of accommodation is now exposed, beyond dispute, as strategically and politically bankrupt.
Israel is now at the point where policies of accommodation, promulgated out of fear of US participation in condemnation of Israel are now counter-productive and no longer (if they ever did) serve a useful purpose.
It’s time for Israel to tell Obama to-go-pound-sand (I say that as a loyal American), for Israel to stand on its own and to institute a doctrine which targets Islam’s holiest sites and the Saudi and Iranian oil fields and the Strait of Hormuz.
Israel’s back is now up against the wall and the only hope she has is to make absolutely clear to Islam and the US, that should Israel fall, they shall pay an unthinkable price. It’s time for a game changer.

Israel, hold on to your nuclear weapons, you just might have to use it. Don’t trust the US, don’t trust anyone, except yourselves.
One upside to this is that it will become obvious to everyone that Turkey has reverted into an Islamic anti-US state. I can’t imagine that the EU would allow it to join unless the Europeans are even bigger blockheads than we think they are.
Turkey and the rest of the Islamic cesspool will beat its chest for a while but it won’t amount to much. Even if the EU and the US join in it won’t matter. Remember that Israel has nuclear weapons and can exterminate the EU and Islamic worlds, and all sides know it. Israel may have to hunker down for a while until the big B.O. is out to pasture and the EU looses interest.

    Caroline,
I have been a fan of your in depth and knowledgeable analysis for sometime. Thank you for that. As an American, I have seen a dramatic unraveling of the Obama con job on the United States electorate over a very short time. As a majority, we stand by Israel, no matter what the Obama-ination says and does. The IDF did a good job documenting on video what went down during the boarding of the Turkish flotilla ship. The MSM in our country has lost all credibility, so no matter how this incident is spun by them, we Americans, if given hard data (like the IDF filming of the incident) will eventually know the truth. Unfortunately time is not on on Israel’s side, and I am afraid of what Hussein Obama will do or not do in the near future in regards to the developing situation in middle east.

As usual Caroline is right on target. Nevertheless, I can’t stop thinking that in the flotilla incident the IDF tried to (quite stupidly) play the media, and used more like Hamas’ tactics than what you would expect from a serious army dealing with a blockade. I mean, throwing those poor soldiers right into the hands of an angy mob –it seems to me that they were trying to convey an image of pity towards the soldiers to justify their move. Pathetic. If Israel is convinced that it has the right to stop those ships from making it to the shore, they should have kept it professional: warning, salvo, shoot for the propellers, let them bask, board if necessary, but with absolute resolution and power to avoid casualties. And to helll with the media. That’s what I would expect from a self-respecting army, nothing less. My only hopes for Israel’s prosperity lie now in having Caroline Glick somewhere really high in the Israeli government…

A good piece over at the National Review Online, by Daniel Pipes:
    http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MWIxM2M3ZDE0MDIwYjk1YTJmNmY5N2RlZjhmMzQxMTk=
‘Free Gaza’ Flotilla Defeats the Israel Defense Forces
One of the most important rules for a strategist is not to be put on the defensive. David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, developed this concept into a doctrine of forward defense that brilliantly served his state in its early years.
Eventually, however, Israel’s enemies realized that they could not win a conventional war. Instead of launching planes, tanks, and ships at the Jewish state, they turned to other means — weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, and (most recently) political delegitimization. Delegitimization turns the rules of war upside down: in particular, strength is weakness and public opinion has supreme importance.
Israel’s command structure, having mastered the old ways of war (the ones that lasted to 1973), has shown utter strategic incompetence at the new ways of war (in place since 1982). The new rules require an agile sense of public relations, which means that a powerful state never physically harms, even inadvertently, its rag-tag political adversaries.
Rachel Corrie has been an albatross around Israel’s neck since 2003; today’s dead on the seas off Gaza will prove an even worse source of anti-Zionism. Thus did the “armada of hate and violence” achieve its purpose. Thus did the Israelis fall into a trap.

This video clip shows how intelligently Israeli government has prepared it’s justification of the killings. The simple “cut and paste technique” was used. If this is what happened aboard the ship then the 19 dead must be IDF soldiers rather than the opposite counterpart. They have successfully deluded everyone to think on what they have seen in clips, the so called weapons and the Israeli soldiers being beaten. Everyone has completely forgotten the following facts:-
    1) This is a humanitarian aid convoy.
    2) 9 or 19 were killed, these were civilians.
    3) The ship was still in the international waters, Israelis had no right to board the ship
    4) People, I repeat people or mankind or human being are dying in Gaza because of the lack basic necessities as a result of the blockage.
    5) Israeli is occupying Palestinian lands.

You can see them on YouTube, handcuffed, cowering, helpless. 24 hours later they were all dead. The world yawned, rolled over and went back to sleep.
Why? Because the Russians don’t give a rat’s as what the world thinks of Russians.
And the world knows Russia can’t be brow beaten, cowed, manipulated and conned into apologizing for acting in their own interest.
Do you think any pirates will try to hijack a Russian ship any time soon?

The Israeli soldiers who landed on that ship shouted at each other not to shoot the peace activists. If Israeli intelligence were competent, they would have known they were not dealing with peaceful people.
Now we hear about the terrorist associations of the organizers, and now we see videos of the “peace activists” shouting hateful slogans in preparation for the voyage.
Why didn’t the Israeli soldiers know about this before they landed and were beaten up and one of them tossed off a deck and ending up with a grave head injury?

Thank you for speaking the truth! Israel was set up – I am surprised they didn’t see this coming. And as for the US, Obama has stabbed you in the back and will continue to do so. Don’t back down.

If Turkey financed this operation, then it has engaged in an act of war against Israel.
If this turns out to be the case, it is yet more evidence that Turkey does not belong in NATO or in the EU.

    Joe,
    Part of defending Israel is in correcting ignorance or intentional lies;
    1) This is a humanitarian aid convoy.
No it wasn’t. Those were terrorists and terrorist sympathizers. It’s purpose is to break the blockade so as to be able to freely import weapons for the next planned attack.
    2) 9 or 19 were killed, these were civilians.
They were civilian terrorists trying to kill Israeli soldiers.
    3) The ship was still in the international waters, Israelis had no right to board the ship
Educate yourself, Israel was well within its legal rights under International law.
    4) People, I repeat people or mankind or human being are dying in Gaza because of the lack basic necessities as a result of the blockage.
No, people are dying in Gaza because of Hamas and the Palestinian people’s religious hate. Plenty of food, medicine, etc. is entering Gaza through Israel.
    5) Israeli is occupying Palestinian lands.
Not so. Historically (WWI), legally and by Islam’s own standards, the Israeli’s have an absolute right to the land.

    Congratulations Miss Glick,
    As usual precise and comprehensive.
Regretfully expecting any different from those in the GOI, government of Israel of course, is not realistic.
Mr. Barak is a well known quantity as a runner and abandoner when not assaulting Jews that is.
Lets remember… Mr. Barak run from Hezbollah and abandoned many of our allies.
Mr. Barak sent a religious military group knowingly into a trap at Sultan Yakub causing dozens of casualties and missing soldiers.
Mr. Barak abandoned many wounded soldiers at Tzehilim.
Mr. Barak abandoned a Druze soldier in Kever Yoseph. He bled to death. Alone.
His fabricated aura is just as false as his day to day actions.
Now he sent our kids to a War situation “armed” with paint guns!!!
Perhaps he will send our best fliers to Iran also with PAINT bombs?
We need NEW PEOPLE UP THERE but not rotations of the same old junk.

Here is INTERNATIONAL LAW: San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea, 12 June 1994:
    SECTION V :
    67. Merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral States may not be attacked unless they:
    (a) are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture;
A blockade is perfectly legitimate act of war, and running a blockade is illegitimate, making its perpetrators a combatants partaking in conflict and thus legitimate targets for our soldiers, lawful to kill. A blockade is enforced in international waters, by definition.
As for the raid – looks like a bright idea of Barak kind, and looks like he is playing to lose, intentionally. His conduct was made to look like that of a war criminal – showing up on TV only 7-8 hours after the fact, not speaking in English and refusing to take questions, as if he had something to hide.
Looks like Barak is setting Israel up to lose. Normal people, loyal to their country, just can’t be THAT stupid. Paintball guns… how’s that the Army didn’t know what IHH is, and Caroline here and many other pundits knew it very well? In what kind of isolation our generals operate, or are they in it with Barack too?
And this is nothing new. The Orr commission’s conclusions are well known – going in with insufficient force is a sure-fire recipe for a deadly shooting by soldiers forced to save their lives. A disaster of strategic proportions, making Israel into a pariah state, whose any attempt to deal with Iran/Turkey will be met now by embargo, sanctions and military blockade.
This was a suicidal PR-action, and it succeeded for its perpetrators, their useful idiots enablers, their hard-left allies and international TV/press.
The UN resolution speaking about “international waters” and not mentioning a blockade is tantamount to denying Israel’s right to fight the war HAMAS has started against it. To denying the sovereignty of Israel. It’s very right to exist as a sovereign state.
If anything, Israel should leave the UN, and escape the liability of 7th Chapter resolutions.
Next – the Turkish military convoy of another anti-blockade humanitarian terrorist raid, provoking a shoot-out with Israeli navy thus getting NATO automatically into war with Israel.

I’ve never commented on an internet article before, but I’m so moved by this whole thing I had to say something. First,I hope that Caroline Glick’s article is read by millions here in the USA.
Yes, this war against Israel is nothing new. But it has been going on since the day Amalek came out and fought against Israel as they were journeying through the wilderness of Sin on the way to the land promised to them by the LORD God, Creator of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them.
Here is what God said about Amalek to Moses:
“Write this in a book as a memorial, and recite it to Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven” (Exodus 17:14).
There is coming a day–and it is on the horizon–
when God will ultimately deal with ALL the nations and with Israel.
Here is what God says in Isaiah 41:11-13 to the remnant of Israel:
“Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish. You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, those who are with you will be as nothing and non-existent. For I am the LORD your God, who upholds your right hand, who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.'”
The LORD, the Holy One of Israel, is Israel’s Redeemer. He has not rejected His people and a remnant will be upheld with His righteous right hand.
The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, who does not become weary or tired, also says in Isaiah 40:31:
“Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
I also just want to say that of the 222 organizations that endorsed the terror-supporting flotilla, the “Christian” groups included are not truly Christian; otherwise, they could not have endorsed such a thing. True Christians are not terrorists.
A true Christian also will believe these words that God spoke to Abram in Genesis 12:3:”I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
    Respectfully submitted,
    Al

For years Israel’s public relations efforts have been dismal. This condition cannot be tolerated any longer.
We now have incompetence in planning to contend with as well.
Congress and the American people are Israel’s first line of defense. They must be the first to be brought solidly aboard. As the White House has requested, a meticulous review should be done as quickly as possible. This should include the basic facts of the conflict which so often are overlooked or ignored: Palestinian refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, to renounce terrorism and to stop incitement to hatred and violence against Jews. President Bush made these the essential pre-conditions to moving ahead with a peace process involving two states.
In the meantime, a non-apologetic information offensive must be waged relentlessly. It’s regrettable that Israel has been betrayed by its long-standing partner Turkey, but that is inevitable with the Islamist Erdogan in power and feeling more powerful every day. He is itching to show how faithful a follower of Mohammed he is and Israel is an target of which Mohammed would approve. Accept the fact and act accordingly.
American Christians believe God helps those who help themselves. That goes for Israelis, too.

Caroline should really be involved in strategy for the Israeli government. She has a great understanding of the situation.
There has been a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking on this, but the following is the approach that I think was needed:
1- Israel should have gone onto the ship as a hostile vessel, with fully armed troups ready for a fight. If was truly peaceful, then you don’t have to use force.
2- The vessel should have been immediately searched. All weapons should have been identified and news media should have been on site to report it to the world. Make sure that CNN, BBC, and all of the US agencies were there.
3- Israel should have called the UN Security Council to condemn Turkey. Their complacency in the shipment of weapons was an act of war. Israel should have recalled their ambassador from Turkey and withdrawn their personnel from the Israeli embassy in Turkey.
4- Netanyahu should have called Obama and H. Clinton to strongly protest the terrorist act supported by Turkey.
5- Netanyahu should have called all of the PM in the EU to complain about the involvement of Turkey in their support of terrorism.
6- There should have been lots of news announcements to thank Egypt on their support of the blockade on the southern border of Gaza.

    Why the blindness???
    ISLAM IS A DEATH CULT
…this is an ‘ideal’ promoted within ISLAMIC ‘religious’ texts, and an ‘ideal’ empowered by the wickedness that lies within men’s hearts.
Within its ‘religious’ texts, ISLAM declares TO THE WHOLE WORLD, that it is DESIRABLE, and glorious, for a moslem to die fighting for Allah’s cause [Allah’s cause, is the bondage [enslavement] and oppression of all mankind].
ISLAM’s adherents are taught to seek [their own] violent death, in Jihad.
So it may be asked, why are Israel’s defenders condemned [for aiding ISLAM’s martyrs, on their journey to ‘paradise’] for defending themselves, from the intents of ISLAM’s suicidal devotees?
    The Hadith;
“The Prophet said, “Nobody who dies and finds good from Allah (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it, except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom, would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allah’s Cause).” ”
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.053
“The Prophet said, “By Him in Whose Hands my life is! Were it not for some men amongst the believers who dislike to be left behind me and whom I cannot provide with means of conveyance, I would certainly never remain behind any Sariya’ (army-unit) setting out in Allah’s Cause. By Him in Whose Hands my life is! I would love to be martyred in Allah’s Cause and then get resurrected and then get martyred, and then get resurrected again and then get martyred and then get resurrected again and then get martyred.”
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.054
“The Prophet said, “Nobody who enters Paradise likes to go back to the world even if he got everything on the earth, except a Mujahid who wishes to return to the world so that he may be martyred ten times because of the dignity he receives (from Allah).” ”
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.072
“I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “The example of a Mujahid [religious fighter] in Allah’s Cause– and Allah knows better who really strives in His Cause—-is like a person who fasts and prays continuously. Allah guarantees that He will admit the Mujahid in His Cause into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise He will return him to his home safely with rewards and war booty.” ”
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.046
i.e. Muhammad is reported as saying that for a moslem, religious fighting, is the same as a religious devotion.
Jihad [religious fighting], is as if a muslim ‘fasts and prays continuously’.
And that Allah guarantees that a Mujahid [religious fighter] will enter Paradise, if he is killed.
“A man came to the Prophet and asked, “A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah’s Cause?” The Prophet said, “He who fights that Allah’s Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah’s Cause.” ”
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.065
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #004.052.080i
“Allah’s Apostle was asked, “What is the best deed?” He replied, “To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad). The questioner then asked, “What is the next (in goodness)? He replied, “To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah’s Cause.” ”
    hadithsunnah/bukhari/ #001.002.025

    Google the following..
    These provocations are stated by ISLAMIC leaders;
“We are going to win, because they [Jews] love life and we love death.”
    Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah
“We love death. The US loves life. That is the difference between us two.”
    Osama bin Laden, November 2001
“We’re talking about people [moslems] who like to die, the way, you [‘unbelievers’] like to live.”
Abu Izzadeen – UK cleric, July, 2006
“….the death of those who are killed for the cause of God gives more impetus to the cause, which continues to thrive on their blood.”
Being a direct quote from ISLAMIC scholar, Sayyid Qutb.
Clearly, openly, encouraging moslem murder, of non-moslems, and the martyrdom of moslems, in the name of Allah.
    +++
    i.e.
ISLAM’s adherents are taught that it is glorious, to seek [their own] violent death, in Jihad.
Israel [and the world community!!!], don’t you find all of these circumstances bizarre, surreal !!?
That in the world today, with the WWW being available to almost everybody, that all thinking people can know, should know, about ISLAM’s deceptive tactics and the authorised doctrines of ISLAM, ‘religious’ doctrines which encourage fighting, violence, murder [to further ISLAM’s aims] nobody questions moslem sincerity, in moslem claims of moslem ‘victimhood’?
Why is it that, that when ISLAM portrays its violent murderous ‘martyrs’ as, the ‘victims’, the world neither questions, OR EVEN RECOGNISES, such open, bare faced duplicity of thought?
The truth is, that ISLAM’s !!victims!!, are portrayed as aggressors, for defending themselves from the violent, murderous, rage of ISLAM’s adherents.
Israel [and the world community!!!], don’t you find it an !!abomination!!, that ISLAM portrays its intended victims [those victims who defend themselves, against ISLAM’s deceptive, brutal, violent, murderous, war philosophy] as the aggressors, and the murderers?
    Deuteronomy 29:2
    And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
    Q.
What will defeat the lies and violence of ISLAM?
    A.
Those men who embrace bare, open, naked, Truth.
Those men who embrace the righteousness, of the God of Israel.

If these “activists” had no weapons, as they claim, then how did the Israeli soldiers get wounded? They hardly stabbed themselves.
If – which is what the press writes – the “activists” and the Israeli navy made an agreement that the navy could enter the ship at a given time then how can the Israelis be blamed that they did it in international waters? An agreement is an agreement. Also at sea. Hopefully the navy taped these conversations.
Israel will win this in the end. But the news agencies won the press war. Reuters and the lot. It is the news agencies that are the main source for asymmetrical information. Most newspapers do not have correspondents of their own. So what news agencies do not tell isn’t known.
I really wish ordinary Israelis would help us with information. I have searched Flickr numerous times for photos but seldom found what I needed. Once I searched for photos of the steel wall that the Egyptians build along the boarder. Flicker had only one but it was copyrighted.
We bloggers desperately need access to that kind of free documentation on sites like Flickr. The Israelis could help us with that…

l have been examining the world situation for a while now, finally lve reached the moment where l can recomend the way forward, its quite simple really: lslam is at war with non lslam generally and the West specifically. lslam has allies in the West and these are more often than not liberal/socialists leftists etc. Coincidentally socialism is the mainstream these days. We need to name the enemy and fight the enemy. lslam is the enemy. lslam is evil and pernicious. Socialism is the enemy. Socialism is evil and pernicious. Dancing around reaching out to so called moderate Muslims and making accomodations – its the sure road to defeat. lslam is evil and will destroy us when and if it can. We in the West must fight lslam, there is no alternative.

    Exactly so Geoffrey! :))
Territory acquired as a consequence of war.
Israel’s wars in the region, were all defensive, and NOT instigated by Israel.
And while some may accuse Israel of occupying ‘Palestinian’ lands,
…yet, **by Islam’s own standards**, Israel legally acquired that land!!!
    :))
    +++
    FURTHER reading,
Should Arab states surrounding Israel be rewarded for their aggression???
“Israel’s presence in all these areas pending negotiation of new borders is entirely lawful, since Israel entered them lawfully in self-defence. International law forbids acquisition by unlawful force, but not where, as in the case of Israel’s self-defence in 1967, the entry on the territory was lawful. It does not so forbid it,….for the effect of such prohibition would be to guarantee to all potential aggressors that, even if their aggression failed, all territory lost in the attempt would be automatically returned to them. Such a rule would be absurd to the point of lunacy. There is no such rule…”

    Dear Ms. Glick,
I have been an admirer of you and your articles over the years.
I receive lots of emails every day from various organisations, which contain articles by lots of well respected journalists. As a result I rarely have time to read them, however when I see an article with your name I read it immediately.
When I became aware of your book Shackled Warrior I bought it and became even more impressed when I read your brief CV. Who would have thought of an Israeli woman embedded with the US Army during the war in Iraq ? The book was also very impressive and spot on. I have learned a lot from it.
Your latest article “Ending Israel’s losing streak” is unfortunately spot on as usual. I always hesitate to offer advice to Israel’s leaders, who may suffer from any advice they adopt, while I am safely tucked away down under. So I am glad that I can consider you my spokeswoman in Israel.
When Obama was selected as presidential candidate and I read of his background I realised that if he became President he would be a bad President for the USA as well as for Israel. Unfortunately my prophecy is becoming more and more fulfilled every day. I think he could be compared to Britain’s PM Chamberlain, who also thought he could appease the enemy, i.e. Nazi Germany, in 1939. We all know what that led to.
I agree with the observations by some of your commentators. I too feel that Bibi should appoint you as his personal advisor on all matters and perhaps even as Minister for Foreign Affairs.
I also agree with your commentators, who mentioned prophecies from the Tanach. Those prophecies regarding the whole world turning against Israel are obviously slowly being fulfilled. Therefore those prophecies about HaShem saving Israel from its enemies, redeeming us and returning us to the Land will also be fulfilled.
Keep up the good work. I wish you a long and healthy life bis 120. We want Moshiach now!
    Warmest Regards,
    Gershon

King Saul, in his war against the Amelekites, wanted to show his compassion towards them by sparing the King and the cattle. In so doing, he disobeyed a direct command by G-d to obliterate the Amelekites from the face of the earth including their possessions. The King of the Amelekites, before he was executed by Samuel was able to have offspring. His descendents gave the Jews Haman.
It seems that the good guys want to be more compassionate than G-d when in reality, when facing evil, they are perpetuating it. When nations give up the will to survive or give up their original mission on this earth they are replaced with something else to fill the vacuum.
Most nations do not respect rules, treaties, agreements, or understandings. Nations only respect competence, competition and force. I hope that whoever in the Israeli Government organized the interception of this Turkish backed flotilla is fired and that the government quickly change its naval tactics anticipating that they are dealing with an hostile or enemy vessel (and not dangle IDF Sailors, individually, like a mouse over a fish tank full of piranhas).
It would also help to read open source intelligence. Turkey and Greece made no secret of their intentions.

Is it not over the top to say Rachel Corrie was a suicide activist? I don’t know how that issue was ever resolved, whether it was judged that the bulldozer driver saw her or not, but it’s kind of the done thing for protesters stand in front of big vehicles hoping not to be killed but instead that the driver will be cowed into stopping — whereas a suicide bomber’s intent is indeed to die in their act.

I have to say that i’ve for the last two days continuesly been into almost all Norwegian online media’s discussion sites and defended your troops defence action, as nearly the only one to defende Israel. I’ve been named all kind of ugly names from other people in these sides. When they had no more arguements they called me: Idiot, stupid even swearing at me LOL. U know i am proud to stand up with my full name and share my opinions no mather what it takes. I have read many of your articles and listen to the interwiev on radio and it’s been very helpful to me because in Norwegian media i dont read and hear anything but negative comments about israel and the jewish people these days. It scares me that i see here in Norway a growing antisemitic writing and talking in all media and among people i talk to. But i can assure u all that my voice will not be quiet as long as there is one media here in Norway that keep on lying about this.

Ms. Glick is perceptive as usual. I think that, by now, she should realize that the leadership she advocates is not to be found among Israel’s current leaders, including Bibi. Bibi has had too many chances to prove himself a leader and to stand up to American pressure and assaults from the left. He has buckled at every turn. It is clearly time for people who agree with Glick (which I think is about 70% of the Israeli voting public) to unite and bring new, if untested, leadership to Israel. Leadership that will not apologize for the Jewish state, nor try to turn it into the Singapore of the Middle East. Leadership that is proud of its Jewish heritage and Eretz Israel. Look around, for there are such leaders available. They struggle against the old-boy leftist political network. With massive public support, they can lead Israel. Will they be better? We won’t know until they have been given a chance to lead. But they couldn’t do much worse than Bibi, Barak and Livni.

The realistically-looking press conferences etc should be staged, filmed and put up on Utube. They will be very quickly disseminated by the viral forces of the Net, because they would provide for the real need of many for the word of Truth.
Please consider doing this. We can’t wait until you become a Prime Minister. 🙂 Your defense is needed by Israel even today. What our treacherous (or stupid, not much better alternative) elites won’t say, your team will.

I don’t know, but i suspect that Rachel Corrie didn’t intend to die in the way that she did.
I suspect that she probably tripped, at the last, fatal, moment.
In any case Rachel Corrie served her purpose, as a ‘useful idiot’.
    So she is happy.
IMO, her blood, is on her own hands.

Oh my G_D, oh my G_D ! Caroline, you’re so AWESOME ! , “the eternal war against the jewish people”, didn’t even realize that I was personally at war before you pointed it out, bloody pals…I’ll be prepared, they won’t get me. But I think you’re wrong about so called american “exceptionalism”. We are G_D’s chosen people, not America. History has proven there is no good to be found for us when goyim think their specific kind to be exceptional. This idea rightfully belongs to the trash bin. As the Highlander says : “There can be only one”
    Love you nevertheless.
    Keep up the good work

The battle of Psalm 83 is at hand and we know the war ends. All praise and glory to the one true God.

    Caroline,
This article should become a National Security Document and blueprint for the Israeli government.
Unfortunately, this latest Israeli military and PR disaster broadcast they are COMPLETELY UNPREPARED TO DO JACK WITH IRAN.
The Israeli cowardice, incompetence, and disconnection from reality is provocative and will surely result in future attacks and trouble for Jews worldwide.

As usual you are 100% correct.
It amazes me that Israeli leaders respond to haters with appeals to their reason and morality — which if they had either would not be doing what they are doing.
Appeal to reason isn’t the answer.
Not in this type of propaganda war of demonic hatred.
    Best defense is offence.
And good timing. And anticipation of what’s coming next and further down the road — to head it off before it gets to you.
Condemn the condemners — only more so. For a start.
Leaders need brilliant strategists to help and guide them in this type of battle that has little to do with rationality — but knowledge of the rancid psychology of the bully and how to counter confound it. The “truth” is there — but in this fight — (I’m not suggesting lies) — it takes more than “truth.”
It has to be understood, that with so few friends, Israel fears this behavior might further alienate those who are not total enemies. But it doesn’t work that way.
Bibi’s speech branding the Int’l Community as bypocrites was a good start, but could have gone further.
Israeli leaders, busy with governing and their various duties, aren’t up to working out what’s needed — they need help from teams of specialized experts whose work is solely devoted to this.
One would think that after all this time, and especially over the last 10 years, that the Israeli government would have a whole department full of brilliant strategists — media strategists — political dialogue strategists, all kinds of strategists.
It’s unbelievable that they believe that appeals to reason and morality are but side appraches in this world of treachery. Being good, being right, alas, are far from enough.
Yes, what the world is doing is staggeringly evil.
You are one of, if not the best voice Israel has.

I would just want to send a small report of the return of those three Norwegians that were onboard the ship who was stopped. The three norwegians arrived to Norway today and are beeing treated as heroes in media. The lies continues as they are telling media that Israeli navy forces started shoot at once when they entered the ship. Everyone that have watched the video from the boarding can(if they want to) see that the soldiers were attacked right away. I said in a discussion site in a newspaper today that the only thing they have obtained is to escalate the conflict and made the situation worse for those who they claimed they were going to help. They have in my opinion given Hamas a reason to make a hit on Israeli sivilians and knowing the will have almost the whole world behind them. They will claime that they were provoked to take revenge. I wish with all of my heart that these norwegians never again will be allowed to set a foot in Israel. God bless you all.

Wonderful article. Maybe I am naive about Israel but I am now beginning to get the impression that the Jewish people and Israel do not yet understand that America has nothing but a snakeoil socialist pro Muslim salesman as their President. The only reason that Barack Obama will do anything for Israel is because he is afraid FOR NOW of a backlash from the liberal Jewish vote in the mid terms elections and in 2012.
From this article I get the impression that Jewish leaders think that the US will do something to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Is Israel really waiting for that miracle.
I like Netanyahu but more and more I am getting the impression that Israel has lost its backbone and is now floundering around looking for answers.
Israel is really the only wall against the Red/Green push and God help us if you fail.
Remember you only have to be super strong until Nov 2012 when that buffoon is kicked out of the White House.

It’s been a large discussion on Norwegian television this evening. The Norwegian committee of palestinian matters said that they are trying to raise a new boat that’s going to try to brake the blockade. This ship is going to sail under the Norwegian flag and what is worse is that there are some politicians from the Norwegian parlament that have woluntered to go with them on that boat. I think this would be a horrible way for a elected Norwegian politician to make a statement in this conflict.
Also many of the participants in the discussion were so happy because of what they called a new line i the USAs middle east politics. Many of them demanded a stop in all Norwegian trading with Israel. This is just stupid. The only ones who would suffer with that action is the sivilians on both sides. And i’m telling everyone i talks to that i’m going to be very selective when shopping, looking for and choose Israelian. One good news is that late yesterday and today there have been more and more people that have dared to open theire mouth in several newspapers and supported the action of the Israeli navy troops. You see, we should never stop telling the truth. It helps. i am more optimistic today than i was yesterday. It gives me this good feeling standing up for Israel and the Israeli people. The truth will allways win sooner or later. I hope it’s in the interest of you all that i keep on reporting what is going on in my country too. Now these days we all must stay together against lies and distortion of truth. God bless you all.

Exactly what I think myself since at least 2006_Lebanon.
Israel has so many intelligent people, which could define a working strategy against the RoP_thugs.
The problem is that the Jews sometime give the impression that they are their main foes. The most vocal Israel haters are the Jews themselves.
And these different currents / factions in the official israeli politics are bekoming more dangerous with each day. There are so many examples…
Forget about the “civil / democratic” way to treat these thugs, you can only loose.
I remember a story told me once, by a German tourist in North Africa: he could not escape the aggresiveness and rudeness of the street vendors, up to the point when he realised that the solution is simple: treat them as the gypsies back in his native Balkan country. From that moment on – not a problem anymore.
His advantage was that he knew them before and knew how to treat them. Here in the West almost nobody has such an experience and everybody believes one can treat them normally – as one would treat an French / German / American…
FORGET IT! – if you really want to live another day.
    Wake up Israel!

In any of these conflicts, if you assume that Hamas and the Middle Eastern forces are in the wrong and Isreal is innocent, you will be right 95% of the time.

It is NOT in U.S. interests to be all over the world. American “exceptionalism” is bogus. No one is exempt from the laws of nature or G-d, not even the U.S.
The best thing for Israel is to become independent of the U.S. and develop the next generation of weapons – robot soldiers, swarms of artificially intelligent drones, nuclear powered lasers, particle beams and plasma weapons, and next generation nukes.
Israel should set itself up as an international banking privacy center like Switzerland used to be, and draw capital from around the world. Israel should dump socialism in favor of laizzez-faire, and REFUSE U.S. aid. Israel can and should become the world technological and scientific leader.
The way to have handled the Hamas flotilla is to foul their propellers from underwater or snag the vessels with nets and anchor them. Or gently redirect the aggressor vessels by coming alongside using tugs or a vessel padded with tractor tires along the sides.
In any case, Israel should not risk IDF sailors by boarding the aggressor vessels.
The best thing would be to disable the aggressor vessels and keep them anchored in the at sea, with the war activists in a floating prison of their own making. Then let the Turkish, Norwegian and other governments plead for the release of their aggressors, after they have apologized to Israel, and after they agree to work for the release of Gilad Shalit.
Israel should concentrate on amassing a huge number of prisoners. If the world wants back their aggressors, then they have to get Gilad Shalit and all the other Israeli prisoners released.
