Airstrikes in Gaza

This morning I knew the strike against Gaza was beginning when the thunderous roar of jet fighters en route to their mission shook my home. I was immediately overwhelmned by a profound sense of hope and relief.

Finally, after months of passivity, incompetence and empty threats that simply eroded Israel's credibility in the eyes of our enemies and friends alike still further, the IDF has been ordered to defend the country. Finally after the anger and defiance of residents of Ashkelon, Sderot and the kibbutzim and moshavim around Gaza had long been transformed into pleas of desperation, the government seems finally to be fulfilling its most important duty — protecting the citizens of the State of Israel.

I have my doubts about the goals of this mission and about the competence of this government to secure the country. And I will address these issues in due course. But today, all I can do is pray — for the safety of all Israelis in the line of fire and for the success and safety of our brave pilots and soldiers. I pray that God will grant wisdom to our commanders and our leaders so that we will defeat our enemies and remove the threat of rockets, mortars and missiles from our southern cities.

God bless the State of Israel. God bless the people of Israel. God bless the IDF.

    DON’T RELENT!
Don’t tap the enemy; don’t look to send “signals” of “resolve;” don’t let Washington tamper with what you’re doing.
    Crush ALL Palestinian resistance.
Crush Gaza, and if that means reducing to dust every single structure therein, ————– then so be it.

I hope our friends in the IDF have good hunting, and that every Israeli is safe from terrorists.
    Stay safe, Caroline.

    Thank God Caroline, At last.
We join you praying for these brave fighting men and women.
This is the only message Hamas understands. Just make it loud and clear.
God speed for a safe return and mission complete.
    Again, Thank God

I sure hope Israel has more surprises for their enemies.
I do understand that Masshal has ordered a third intifada from Damascus.
I do hope that a zionist intifada is delivered to his doorstep along with other Hamas leadeship in Gaza starting with Haneyiah.
They do understand this language well.
My hope is that Israel’s leadership has awakened from a long coma and understand that the corrot approach of the U.S. has failed and it is now time for the stick approach.
Don’t do another half assed job like you did in Lebanon. You are still paying for that gross blunder in listening to tricky Bush and retreating before the job was finished.
Please do not allow your phony allies and the worthless turncoat French restrain you from what must be done.
It time once again for the Arabs to be humiliated with another decisive loss.
This is the only thing they understand.

Israel needs a Chanukah miracle to maintain its independence. And Gaza needs liberation from Islamic fascists. We pray that God grants Israel complete victory over her enemies.

One would have to be insane to not have doubts. Let’s hope that the army at least will be effective, but I have doubts there too.

I’m an American half way around the world in San Diego California, watching another episode of the Middle East unfold. I remember as a youngster during the six-day war not understanding the views and sides in the Middle East.
I do today. In 2001 I, like many here, noticed who cheered and who wept after 9/11.
Don’t forget Hamas, revenge is a two edged sword. You do not have a monopoly

    Two thoughts
    1) Better late than never.
    2) There is no such thing as an acceptable level of terrorism any more than an acceptable level of child molestation.

If the goal of the Israeli government is to eliminate Hamas, a goal that is entirely appropriate, and succeeds it will send a signal to Hezbollah, Syria and Iran that they could very well be next in line.
Israel has one of the best militaries in the world and its only purpose is as you have indicated: to protect the rights a free people. Let’s hope they end the scourge that is Hamas once and for all.

Yeah, I’m not really optimistic. Israel {regardless of who’s in power} has had a pattern of doing half the job, and then retreating under pressure from the U.S., EU, UN, or all of the above.

Slowly a few souls in Israel are becoming aware that living in peace with the cult of death is impossible.
The reason the moslems teach their children from birth to hate and kill Jews is because Israel’s existence and prosperity on land once under Islamic control proves that Islam is a lie. They are ashamed and have lost all pride by their constant defeat at the hand of tiny and outnumbered Israel.
The fact that the once barren land is so productive and blessed is an affront to moslems who are shamed and have lost face with a God blessed and proserous Israel while they live in poverty and squalor.
The gene of jealousy and hate thrives and grows well in Islam and only it’s funeral will bring Jew and Arab together in real, true and lasting peace.
Peres,Olmert,Livni and the rest of the Israeli peace camp do not understand the enemy to assume they would even entertain the idea of overthrowing Hamas for even a second.
I thought you understoof the sick mind of the ‘save face’ Arabs who are mortally offended by your existence ?
The mental disorder of Islam makes it sure that they will put down their internal feuds in order to brutally kill non molsems every time.
Israel ,Stop thinking like the idiots of the West whom you follow and grasp the reality that Islam is not a religion of peace but death.

I chose to put my money where my mouth is and contributed some money to my local temple today. I urge all Jews and Gentiles to contribute to their local spiritual center, and make their voice heard. The reason for my contribution is that I stand with Israel – God smite down our enemies!

if anyone kvetches about israel defending itself refer them to the IDF published photos of hamas targets. it is surprising to see how developed their arsenals and training camps are. the photos will hopefully mute any of the tipeshim (idiots) who criticize israel at this time.

    1) I would also pray for the emergence of any TRUE Palistinian moderates. Are there any?
2)Poster Marcel Cousineau makes a valid point about Islamofacists, and probably your average mid-east Muslim, but I doubt Islam can be destroyed by military force or even reformed from within. A new religious belief system will have to displace it – hopefully Christianity – but I’d settle for New Age Pantheism or Secular Humanism.
    3) Always look forward to your analysis.

The loudmouth, always threatening leader of Hamas, Ismail Haneyih is in hiding ,probally wearing a dress and others find new ways to hide.
Hamas police kept a low profile, wearing jackets over their dark blue uniforms and walking close to walls, hoping to evade the detection by Israeli pilots.
(it’s refreshing to see the fear and terror they inflicted on Israel now full blown in Hamas. They reap a large serving of what they have been dishing out for so long)
Minutes after the strike, Hamas police defiantly planted the movement’s green flag in the rubble.
(Hamas and rubble go hand in hand,it’s only fitting that their flag is set in rubble)
A crowd of anti-Israel protesters in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul became a target for a homicide bomber on a bicycle.
(A good example of Islam in action, moslems protesting Israel’s war on Hamas murdered by fellow moslem )
live by the sword, die by the sword

“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Mt4:7.9 Israel tried to give Gaza, its rightful land to Palestinians for peace, not to be worshiped .. they got missiles, not even a thank you for the food, medicine and fuel because it was received into an empty void of their idleness except as it comes to war, hate and fear. Is it that Islamists have been to that desert and when tempted bowed down to Satan… all the while pretending to worship the Lord, your G-d, and serve him only. It is these Islamists who worship war … satan’s playground where evil can be harvested into dim hot light.
It is a truly a fight for goodness and truth’s survival. Give them Israel’s Gaza and bury them there. I hope Jesus’s words will resonate to both Jew and Christian .. there is no cheek to turn, no loving enemies when that enemy worships hate, deceit and destruction … because they have had that and have shown any kindness will be used to build a weapon to destroy. Stay safe … brave … and strong.

As one of the few Swedes blogging in a positive wayin Swedish about the nationalist view of Israel, I often refer to Caroline and the views – as they are usually my views expressed clearer……
IDF has finally discovered that it is terrorists who is the enemy, not “settlers” – after all, ALL Jews of the Middle East are settlers according to ther Abbas doctrine.
Let’s hope Israel has learned a lot from Lebanon, and are not repeating mistakes, but with Olmert looking like a sad poodle in the face, it is possible.

Errrrr, forgive my cynicism, but these hideous enemies of Israel have been hurling projectiles into Israel’s heartland for years. So, on the one hand their cumupance is long overdue but is it just me or does anyone else smell the odour?
Of course we’re delighted that the IDf has finally been deployed to do it’s essential bidding. Protect the State.
But one has to wonder if Ms. Livni and the two Ehuds are looking hopefully toward Gaza while beaming at each other at their political smarts. It may not play well on the BBC, but it sure is playing well at home. Maybe the three stooges have bought themselves another term.
Oh my, what a prospect !
Nevertheless, go IDF. Eliminate these vermin forever.

Any response short of stopping the 3000 Hamas missles rained-down upon Israel this year can possibly labeled “disproportionate”- they have every right to defend themselves, and it’s long overdue.
Where is the Palestinian ingenuity, vision, and long-term pragmatic thinking of the type that made Israel such a successful and bountiful nation… from a strip of desert?
How about something new from them, for once… like a realistic self-awareness, instead of overplaying a weak hand, making insatiable demands, and surrendering themselves to a band of gangsters who swear they will “fight-to-the-death” to destroy Israel?
Does the Palestinian electorate value any attributes in their “leadership” other than stubbornness, vengance, and a comprehensive lack of scruples? Maybe it’s time that they accept they’ve been defeated repeatedly, along with Jordan, Syria, and Egypt in every previous attempt to eradicate the Jewish state? Israel isn’t going to go away, so deal with it.
While the Iranian proxy Hamas uses their own populace as cannon-fodder, the self-destructive instragence and the ceaseless missle attacks on southern Israel from Gaza have now brought a harsh restitution upon them and their own people, and is about to get the hard-core nationalist Bibi Netanyahu’s Likud elected… this will help the Palestinians how, exactly?
Is there anyone in Gaza able to lead in a pragmatic, constructive manner… instead of continuing down a dead-end road with the apocalyptic lunatics of Hamas?

May God Bless Israel and may God Protect the IDF in this most important mission. Crush the enemy, crush their resolve and protect the Holy Land and the residents of Israel. Get it done before 1/20/09. After that date, while private and citizen support for Israel will be strong, there is no telling what the official level of US support will be – or for whom it will be.

The Romans won the first Punic war against Carthage. The Carthaginians, having not learned their lesson, fought the second Punic war, which the Romans won again. The third time the Carthaginians fought against Rome, Carthage ceased to exist. The Romans wiped it out. Old Spanish saying: “once the dog is dead, the rabies are over”. Does the U.N ever complain about Hamas using excessive force on unarmed Jewish cities and civilians who are killed by their rockets, bombs and mortars ?
Never ,they are only Jewish civilians and so there is no cry about disproportionate force used on unarmed Jewsih civilians.
They only reserve their cry for the Islamic juhadists and their families.

I think the government oversetimates these people. You can’t let a dog crap on your carpetfor eight years and then proceed to beat it because “Enough is enough”. You smack it the first, second, third, fourth and fifth time, there shouldn’t be more needed.
I would have put Stalin organs around Gaza when the nonsense started and for every ocket they send, send them back ten. They’ll soon stop. The Gazarenes would tear the rocket launchers to pieces with bare hands after the cause and effect sunk in.
Too simple and hard? I believe that simple and firm are the principles to good dog training and good Arab training.
