Two weeks ago, President Barack Obama opened a diplomatic war on Israel. The proximate cause of his offensive was the Jerusalem District Planning and Building Board's decision to approve the future construction of 1,600 housing units in northern Jerusalem. The goal of the assault is twofold. First, it seeks to undermine the legitimacy of Israel's control over Jerusalem in order to weaken Israel's standing among the American public. As Obama advisor Martin Indyk mocked, Obama's onslaught against…

Americans watching in horror as Barack Obama makes clear that he is an enemy, not a friend of Israel, will be shocked to know that while the Israeli public shares their estimation, the Israeli media and the political left are taking Obama's side against Israel. It is important to understand the context behind what is happening today in Israel because the powers that be on the Israeli Left are advancing several different agendas at once by attacking Netanyahu. For their part, Yediot Ahronot, Ma'a…

Latma's  Tribal Update was the first Israeli media organ to receive an interview with US President Barack Hussein Obama.       And just imagine, he spoke with us in front of the cameras the same week he refused to evn have his picture taken with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.      Obama gave Netanyahu yet a new ultimatum. He wants us to give up the outskirts of Jerusalem, end all of our counterterror operations in Judea and Samaria, rele…

As the local and international press corps converged on Jerusalem's Old City to cover the Arab riots at the Temple Mount two weeks ago, little mention was made of the fact that Jerusalem was not the only flashpoint. In Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israeli Arab rioters supported by far-left protesters stoned buses. Israeli Arabs firebombed motorists on Highway 443 and on the roads to Beersheba. In the North, cars were stoned. These little-reported attacks are the consequence of one of the most dangerous…

Why has US President Barak Obama decided to foment a crisis in US relations with Israel?  Some commentators have claimed that it is Israel's fault. As they tell it, the news that Israel has not banned Jewish construction in Jerusalem - after repeatedly refusing to ban such construction -- drove Obama into a fit of uncontrolled rage from which he has yet to recover.  While popular, this claim makes no sense. Obama didn't come to be called "No drama Obama" for nothing. It is not credible…

At the Knesset this afternoon, Bibi told Obama to leave us alone. In a speech welcoming Brazil's president, (by the way what is he doing here? He's buddy, buddy with Ahmadinejad), Bibi said that Israel will continue to build in all of Jerusalem's neighborhoods. He also said that we would resume building in Judea and Samaria in six months. So we'll see. At a minimum, he didn't give in. Let's hope he keeps this up. Keep it coming Bibi. Please keep it coming.

The Obama administration's calculated decision to escalate its open attacks against Israel over a routine decision by the Jerusalem Planning and Building Board to approve 1,600 housing units in Ramat Shlomo neighborhood presents Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with an unenviable task. He has to either relinquish Israel's sovereignty over its capital by capitulating in the face of the unprecedented American assault, or he can tell Obama and Clinton and their cohorts to go to hell. It is depress…

This week's Tribal Update from Latma, the Hebrew, language media satire website I edit needs a bit of explanation for foreign audiences.  The first gag, with John Indenial, Obama's advisor for reality perception is self-explanatory. The second gag is a promo. It is a spoof on Israel Channel 2's newest drama series "Hatufim" or "Kidnapped." The plot revolves around recently freed Israeli hostages who were held in captivity for 15 years. In our version, the Hebrew word "Hatufim" is…
